  • Publication number: 20030225911
Abstract: An Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4)-Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) communication method and apparatus for allowing an IPv6 home network to communicate with an IPv4 host are provided. In the IPv4-IPv6 communication method, upon receiving a web address from an IPv6 device of the IPv6 home network, an IPv4 address corresponding to the web address is inquired from a domain name system (DNS). Upon receiving the inquired IPv4 address, the IPv4 address is mapped to an IPv6 address. The mapped IPv4/IPv6 addresses are stored, and a connection to the IPv4 host is set. Data of a web page corresponding to the web address is received from the connected IPv4 host. The received data of the web page is transmitted to the IPv6 device by referring to the mapped IPv4/IPv6 addresses.

  • Publication number: 20030185208
Abstract: A method and apparatus for more efficiently operating a network environment, and more particularly, for discovery and change of a path maximum transmission unit (PMTU) between a source node and a destination node on a dynamic IP network is provided. A PMTU discovery packet is generated with a maximum transmission unit (MTU) information storage space in which an MTU value on a routing path between the source node and the destination node is stored, wherein the generated PMTU discovery packet is transmitted to the destination node. If a response packet to the PMTU discovery packet from the destination node is received, the PMTU is changed according to MTU information contained in the response packet. The MTU value stored in the MTU information storage space is compared with a link MTU value on a path which the PMTU discovery packet traverses, and the smaller one of the stored MTU value and the link MTU value on the path which the packet traverses is stored in the MTU information storage space.

  • Patent number: 6555406
Abstract: A method of manufacturing photonic band gap structures operable in the optical spectrum has been presented. The method comprises the steps of creating a patterned template for an elastomeric mold, fabricating an elastomeric mold from poly-dimethylsiloxane (PDMS) or other suitable polymer, filling the elastomeric mold with a second polymer such as epoxy or other suitable polymer, stamping the second polymer by making contact with a substrate or multilayer structure, removing the elastomeric mold, infiltrating the multilayer structure with ceramic or metal, and heating the multilayer structure to remove the second polymer to form a photonic band gap structure.
