Abstract: A refrigerator and a method of making shaved ice by controlling a period during which ice is fed into an ice-shaving compartment, thereby preventing ice from overflowing the ice-shaving compartment and preventing the ice-shaving compartment from being broken due to an excessive amount of ice. The method of making shaved ice comprises feeding cubed ice stored in an ice-storing unit mounted in a freezing compartment to a shaved ice-making unit mounted at a discharge port side of the ice-storing unit though an ice-feeding unit to make shaved ice, setting a driving time for the shaved ice-making unit, and setting a driving time for the ice-feeding unit. The driving time for the shaved ice-making unit is longer than the driving time for the ice-feeding unit.

Abstract: A water purification filter assembly used in a refrigerator includes a filter head provided with an inflow conduit connected to a predetermined water source and an outflow conduit discharging purified water; a water purification filter detachably coupled with the filter head; a case housing the filter head and the water purification filter in such a way that the water purification filter is coupled with and disconnected from the filter head in a horizontal direction; and a water pooling member provided on the case to prevent water, which leaks from the filter head while the water purification filter is coupled with or disconnected from the filter head, from flowing down to an outside of the case.

Abstract: A refrigerator having: an ice storage container in a freezer formed with an opening at a side thereof; an ice breaking part for receiving ice cubes stored in the ice storage container and making shaved ice; a rotating blade which is rotatably provided in the opening; a first discharging part for discharging the ice cubes released to the opening and crushed ice broken by the rotating blade; a second discharging part that communicates with the ice breaking part to cause the ice cubes to be released from the opening and transferred by the rotating blade into the ice breaking part; and first and second discharging levers for opening and closing the first discharging part and the second discharging part, respectively. Thus, the invention provides a refrigerator for selectively distributing and supplying ice stored within an ice storage part to a single transferring unit.

The connection unit includes an outer case having a cylindrical structure, one end of which is closed and the other end of which is opened; an inner case having a cylindrical structure, one end of which is closed and the other end of which is opened; and sealing members installed between the inner surface of the closed end of the outer case and the outer surface of the closed end of the inner case.

Abstract: A refrigerator including a door, a gasket, first and second magnets, and at least one shield member. The door is attached to a body which selectively opens and closes a storage chamber. The gasket is arranged along an inside surface of the door to maintain airtightness of the storage chamber. The first magnet is contained in the gasket. The second magnet is embedded inside a front of the body to face the first magnet. The shield member blocks surfaces of one of the first and second magnets not facing a remaining magnet.
