  • Publication number: 20170178125
Abstract: Systems and methods for increasing the value of trash. By increasing the value of trash, persons have an incentive to collect litter and deposit the collected litter at an appropriate trash collection site (e.g., garbage can, reverse vending machine, recycling center, etc.). In one aspect, a financial instrument (e.g., a Bitcoin, Bitcoin-like value, account identifier, or any other financial instrument) or a pointer to a financial instrument is attached to the object itself or placed inside of the object in a way that is not easily extracted before appropriate time.

  • Publication number: 20170086010
Abstract: A method is executable on a Gateway which is capable of communicating with a Machine Device, a User Device and a Manager Device. The method comprise receiving, from the Manager Device, a first request, requesting for status information associated with the Machine Device, after which the Gateway is determining under which conditions to acquire the requested status information, and to send the acquired status information to the Manager Device. Next the Gateway is determining the relevant status information of the Machine Device, based on a response to a second request, requesting for updated data associated with the Machine Device, the second request being provided to the Machine Device from the Used Device, and the response being received from the Machine Device by the Gateway, after which a notification, comprising the determined status information, is provided from the Gateway to the Manager Device.

  • Patent number: 9485548
Abstract: One or more aspects of the disclosure relate to various functions and processes related to routing of calls based on origination and/or destination information. In one aspect, a method may comprise receiving a request for a call session, and the request may include an indicator that may indicate whether to route a call based on origination and/or destination information of the call session. Based on the indicator, a routing element may determine whether the call session should be routed based on origination information and/or destination information.

  • Patent number: 9473409
Abstract: An overlay network, node and application for load balanced service discovery. The application includes the steps of implementing the service discovery mechanism in the DHT P2P overlay network for finding a peer (1100) that provides a desired service; a step of adding to a record structure (50) of the service discovery mechanism a maximum capacity parameter Cmax (54) and a currently used capacity parameter Ccurrent (56); and a step of removing from the tree (10) a record of the peer (1110) that provides the desired service when the currently used capacity reaches a predetermined capacity so that the peer is not contacted by other service clients.

  • Publication number: 20160241440
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing network management information to a manager node in a distributed communication network. An agent node in the distributed communication network receives a Distributed Hash Table overlay stabilization procedure message. The overlay stabilization procedure message includes an instruction for the agent node to send network management information to the manager node. The agent node then sends network management information to the manager node.

  • Publication number: 20160198430
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method performed in a node 2 comprised in a communication network 1. The method comprises obtaining a set of coordinates of a coordinate system used by the communication network, which set of coordinates specifies a geographical position held by the node. The method also comprises obtaining a first identifier for the node. The identifier comprises at least a part of the obtained set of coordinates such that the identifier can specify to the communication network a first geographical area in which the node is positioned. The method also comprises uploading data to a server 3 comprised in the communication network, said data being associated with the obtained identifier when uploaded to the server. The first identifier can thus specify to the network, such as other nodes in the communication network, a geographical area in which the node is positioned/located. The geographical area may be of any size, but includes the place where the node is positioned.

  • Patent number: 9338527
Abstract: One or more aspects of the disclosure relate to various functions and processes related to routing of calls originating from other service providers. For example, a method includes receiving a request to route a call or a call session, such as a session initiation request, from a second service provider and proceeding to route the requested call or session through a call routing facility of the first service provider to a requested destination of the call. Routing the call through the call routing facility may include determining a service provider type and/or an origination number type for the call, determining routing information for the call using the type information, and causing routing of the call to a destination of the call based on the routing information. Further aspects of the disclosure relate to various functions and processes related to accessing routing data and/or information from a routing database.

  • Patent number: 9288318
Abstract: A system and method for improving the handling, management, and retention of particular accounts. An allowable calling number list is generated via a suitable mechanism such as a call center. The allowable calling number list is utilized by telephone number management server to manage inbound call access to suspended accounts. Account representatives are given access to the suspended numbers. Additionally, certain emergency inbound calls may be permitted from select numbers.

  • Patent number: 9276808
Abstract: An application, peer and method for determining a faulty peer in a structured Peer-to-Peer overlay network. The overlay network includes plural peers besides the faulty peer. The method includes determining that a message sent from a given peer to a target peer along a first path did not reach the target peer; determining an intermediate peer at which the message had arrived; using a second path to send the message from the given peer to the target peer; determining that the message had arrived at the target peer on the second path; adjusting a node identifier (nodeID) of at least one of the target peer and the intermediate peer to obtain a new target peer or a new intermediate peer; and reusing the first and second paths to send the message to the new target peer or the new intermediate peer until the faulty peer is detected.

  • Publication number: 20150229726
Abstract: According to a first aspect there is provided a method of enabling an Internet device that is only awake periodically to receive communications sent when the device is not awake. The method comprises, at the device, during an initial awake period, establishing a connection to a peer of a RELOAD overlay network as a RELOAD client, and creating a dictionary resource at the RELOAD peer using the Node-ID of the device as the Resource-ID. Then, during a further awake period, establishing a connection to the RELOAD peer and obtaining any communications sent to the device during a sleeping period of the device by retrieving data from the dictionary resource stored at the RELOAD peer.
