  • Patent number: 9349171
Abstract: The present disclosure presents systems and methods for correcting image artifacts on an x-ray image. X-ray images are obtained and processed with a correction algorithm that generates corrected pixel lines having pixels with corrected pixel values. The corrected pixel lines can then be processed with a filtering algorithm that generates filtered pixel line having pixels with a filtered pixel value. The bad pixel lines are replaced by the filtered pixel lines to generate corrected x-ray images.

  • Publication number: 20160103046
Abstract: A specimen mixing and transfer device adapted to receive a sample is disclosed. The specimen mixing and transfer device includes a housing, a material including pores that is disposed within the housing, and a dry anticoagulant powder within the pores of the material. In one embodiment, the material is a sponge material. In other embodiments, the material is an open cell foam. In one embodiment, the material is treated with an anticoagulant to form a dry anticoagulant powder finely distributed throughout the pores of the material. A blood sample may be received within the specimen mixing and transfer device. The blood sample is exposed to and mixes with the anticoagulant powder while passing through the material.

  • Publication number: 20160105457
Abstract: Systems, methods and apparatuses for analyzing a string of terms (e.g., a search query, text of an email, and the like) are provided. In some examples, a determination is made as to whether one or more terms in the string matches a keyword. If so, various parts of speech of one or more terms in the string of terms may be determined. In some examples, a category of risk of the terms for which the part of speech is identified may also be determined. A risk rating may then be determined for the string of terms based on the relationship between the terms (e.g., the parts of speech) and the category or categories identified. In some examples, one or more additional actions may be implemented based on the risk rating.

  • Patent number: 8713009
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide automatic systems and methods for associating objects in databases of a web site by rate-based tagging. The frequencies of users entering specific tag terms for objects stored in the databases of the web site are used to determine hard associations between objects and tag terms and between objects. When the frequencies of user tags exceed established thresholds, hard associations between objects and tag terms are established. When objects are identified or determined to have hard association with tag terms, the objects are determined to be more clearly associated with the corresponding tag terms. Therefore, they should be highlighted or featured in more prominent locations on web pages of the web site to increase users' confidence in content of the web site. To identify hard-associated objects, more weights can be assigned to the hard-associated objects, which allows them to be more likely to be selected for display in prominent locations.

  • Patent number: 8502758
Abstract: Methods and displays are disclosed for presenting media content on display systems. A display is configured as an array of LEDs. The array of LEDs includes a first set of rows including first LEDs in a repeating pattern of a first color LED, a second color LED, and a third color LED. A second set of rows includes second LEDs in a repeating pattern of the first color LED, the second color LED, and the third color LED, wherein the second set of rows are interleaved between the first set of rows and the second LEDs are offset relative to the first LEDs. Visual content to be presented on the display includes a repeating sequence of four frames of an array of virtual pixels such that each virtual pixel of the array comprises at least one of the first LEDs and at least one of the second LEDs.

  • Patent number: 8407216
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for automatically generating tag terms (or tags) for objects in databases of a web site. The metadata of the objects (or data) of the web site are processed and parsed to automatically generate tag terms for the corresponding objects. Information (or data, or content) downloaded from the Internet often comes with metadata, which can exist in titles, description, sources, and authors of the information, etc. The metadata of downloaded information can be process and parsed to generate tag terms for the corresponding objects. The system can automatically generate tag terms for the data, which are stored as objects in the databases, and make the data (or objects) searchable. In addition, the automatically generated tag terms allow associated data to maintain their relationship. For example, data from the same sources, same authors, or same subjects can be identified based on the common tag terms.
