    Abstract: A method and computer system for managing a neural network. Data is sent into an input layer in a portion of layers of nodes in the neural network. The data moves on an encode path through the portion such that an output layer in the portion outputs encoded data. The encoded data is sent into the output layer on a decode path through the portion back to the input layer to obtain a reconstruction of the data by the input layer. A determination is made as to whether an undesired amount of error has occurred in the output layer based on the data sent into the input layer and the reconstruction of the data. A number of new nodes is added to the output layer when a determination is present that the undesired amount of the error occurred, enabling reducing the error using the number of the new nodes.

    Abstract: A method of determining volume flow rate of a bodily fluid in a biological conduit includes determining a cross-sectional area of a biological conduit using a velocity vector map representing moving entities or moving fluid portions in a bodily fluid flowing within the biological conduit, calculating an average speed of the moving entities or moving fluid portions in the bodily fluid flowing across the determined cross-sectional area of the biological conduit, and calculating volume flow rate of the bodily fluid in the biological conduit from the determined cross-sectional area and the calculated instantaneous or average speed. A series of velocity vector maps may be collected over time so as to generate a flow rate profile representing flow rate as a function of time.

    Abstract: Methods suitable for producing textured surfaces in surfaces of objects, by which the methods are able to achieve a desired three-dimensional surface topography and optionally a desired subsurface microstructure through the use of a controlled modulation machining technique. The methods include selecting a predetermined surface texture for a surface of a body, and then imposing a superimposed sinusoidal feed-modulation on a cutting tool so as to move the cutting tool in a feed direction relative to the body while machining the body with the cutting tool and generating a machined surface of the body. The surface texture of the machined surface is intentionally controlled by at least the modulation amplitude and the modulation frequency of the superimposed sinusoidal feed-modulation.

    Abstract: A system for measuring the depth of tread of a tyre (5) on a wheel (2) of a vehicle (1) whilst the wheel is rotating and moving along the ground. A camera (3) captures images whilst the tyre rotates for at least the major part of its circumference. Light sources (L1 to L4) are spaced longitudinally and are directed at an acute angle to the path of the tyre, to illuminate the tyre whilst images are captured. The light sources are activated and de-activated sequentially in accordance with signals from longitudinally spaced sensors (S1 to S4) which detect the presence of the tyre, so that when an image is captured of a portion of the tyre tread, only one light source is activated to illuminate that portion of the tyre tread.

A tip button rewards content creators for their efforts. A bitcoin exchange allows for users to set prices that they are willing to sell or buy bitcoin and execute such trades.
