Abstract: A method and computer system for managing a neural network. Data is sent into an input layer in a portion of layers of nodes in the neural network. The data moves on an encode path through the portion such that an output layer in the portion outputs encoded data. The encoded data is sent into the output layer on a decode path through the portion back to the input layer to obtain a reconstruction of the data by the input layer. A determination is made as to whether an undesired amount of error has occurred in the output layer based on the data sent into the input layer and the reconstruction of the data. A number of new nodes is added to the output layer when a determination is present that the undesired amount of the error occurred, enabling reducing the error using the number of the new nodes.

Abstract: Fluorescence based tracking of a light-emitting marker in a bodily fluid stream is conducted by: providing a light-emitting marker into a fluid stream; establishing field of view monitoring by placement of a sensor, such as a high speed camera, at a region of interest; recording image data of light emitted by the marker at the region of interest; determining time characteristics of the light output of the marker traversing the field of view; and calculating flow characteristics based on the time characteristics. Furthermore generating a velocity vector map may be conducted using a cross correlation technique, leading and falling edge considerations, subtraction, and/or thresholding.

Abstract: Detecting anomalies with a spiking neural network is provided. An input layer receives a number of inputs and converts them into phase-coded spikes, wherein each input is contained within a number of progressively larger neighborhoods of surrounding inputs. From the phase-coded spikes, a median value of each input is computed for each size neighborhood. An absolute difference of each input from its median value is computed for each size neighborhood. A median absolute difference (MAD) of each input is computed for each size neighborhood. For each input, an adaptive median filter (AMF) determines if a MAD for any size neighborhood exceeds a respective threshold. If one or more neighborhoods exceeds its threshold, the AMF outputs the median value of the input for the smallest neighborhood. If none of the neighborhoods exceeds the threshold, the AMF outputs the original value of the input.

Abstract: A system for measuring the depth of tread of a tyre (5) on a wheel (2) of a vehicle (1) whilst the wheel is rotating and moving along the ground. A camera (3) captures images whilst the tyre rotates for at least the major part of its circumference. Light sources (L1 to L4) are spaced longitudinally and are directed at an acute angle to the path of the tyre, to illuminate the tyre whilst images are captured. The images are analysed by data processing apparatus (8) and the tread depth is determined from the length of shadows (12, 13) in the gaps (11) between tread blocks (10). The light sources are activated and de-activated sequentially in accordance with signals from longitudinally spaced sensors (S1 to S4) which detect the presence of the tyre, so that when an image is captured of a portion of the tyre tread, only one light source is activated to illuminate that portion of the tyre tread.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and systems that provide for session storage in a remote access environment where a service application is remotely access by a client application. Session storage is in-memory, private local data store that uses key/value pairs to associate data with a particular session where data in the private local data store associated with the particular session is synchronized with the service application using a protocol over HTTP/S and WS/S. Also disclosed herein is an inter-widow communication mechanism that provides for a multi-window architecture where interconnected windows of a client application concurrently display information. This can be extended to use the private local data store, which enables the display and synchronization of content from a remote service application on a client device in a multi-window architecture.

Cinchable carrying bags are reconfigurable between and open, substantially flat configuration and the present disclosure relates to cinchable carrying bags, cases, or luggage. In particular, present disclosure relates to portable, soft-sided or textile bags configured for reducing the volume or footprint of a load of goods, such as soft goods, contained therein. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to reconfigurable bag templates configured for receiving a load of goods while in an open or substantially flat configuration, wrapping around the load of goods into a folded configuration, reducing the volume or footprint of the goods in a cinched configuration, and securing or containing the cinched goods in a closed configuration. The present disclosure relates to cinchable carrying bags, cases, or luggage.

The method includes, from a main agent, initiating a backup agent that includes critical functions of the ISA and runs in a tight loop, isolated from other components. The main agent transfers critical duties to the backup agent and shuts down before performing the upgrade. After upgrading itself and other system components, the main agent retrieves the duties from the backup agent, and may terminate the backup agent.

If a new communication is received from someone who purports to be a trusted user, but the communication exhibits communication traits that are not typical for the user, additional identity fraud prevention steps may be taken.
