  • Publication number: 20160273747
Abstract: A universal mounting system according to some embodiments of the disclosure is used to mount a lighting fixture to a pole, which may be an outdoor pole. The universal mounting system includes a bracket attached to the pole by a mounting fastener, and which is attached to the lighting fixture. The bracket has a portion which inserts into or around the pole and the mounting fastener extends through the pole and through the bracket. The universal mounting system can be used to mount a lighting fixture on any pole by reusing existing holes or drilling new holes through the pole.

  • Patent number: 9387396
Abstract: An exercise system/device for exercising a user's upper limb is described. The exercise system/device is intended for use in rehabilitating patients suffering hemiparesis that causes one upper limb to be at least partially paralyzed. For example, the exercise system/device can be used for neuroplastic retraining rehabilitation techniques for enabling patients to regain control of their paralyzed upper extremities, including shoulders, elbows, wrists and fingers, but primarily their shoulders and elbows via larger arm movements. This is achieved through the use of an elongate handle and a motion sensing device associated with the handle for communicating the user's movements of the handle to a gaming system. Although the exercise system/device is primarily for rehabilitation of patients suffering hemiparesis, it may also be used by any person for bilateral training and exercising upper limbs.

  • Publication number: 20150269124
Abstract: The systems, devices, articles, and methods generally relate to sampling from an available probability distribution. The samples maybe used to create a desirable probability distribution, for instance for use in computing values used in computational techniques including: Importance Sampling and Markov chain Monte Carlo systems. An analog processor may operate as a sample generator, for example by: programming the analog processor with a configuration of the number of programmable parameters for the analog processor, which corresponds to a probability distribution over qubits of the analog processor, evolving the analog processor, and reading out states for the qubits. The states for the qubits in the plurality of qubits correspond to a sample from the probability distribution. Operation of the sampling device may be summarized as including updating a set of samples to include the sample from the probability distribution, and returning the set of samples.

  • Patent number: 9095492
Abstract: A bilateral upper limb exercise device (10) for exercising a user's arms comprising a central mounting structure (12) that is mountable to a fixed surface or structure (15), left and right limb supports (14a, 14b) for supporting the forearm and/or hand of a respective arm of the user, and a pair of articulated linkage arms (22a, 22b) that are pivotably coupled to opposite sides of the central mounting structure (12) and which are arranged to support a respective limb support (14a, 14b) for movement in at least two degrees of freedom in a two-dimensional (2D) movement plane. A mirroring mechanism is also operatively coupled to the articulated linkage arms (22a, 22b) such that movement of the opposing limb support relative to a central line of symmetry of the device.

  • Patent number: 8880056
Abstract: A method for validating the operational characteristics of a mobile phone is provided. The message may include sending a message from the mobile phone to network testing equipment. This message may alert the network testing equipment that a debug state of the mobile phone is enabled. The method may also include sending test data from the network testing equipment to the mobile phone. The method may further include receiving the test data at the mobile phone. The method may yet further include creating a log of received data at the mobile phone. In addition, the method may include using short message service signaling to send at least a portion of the logged data from the mobile phone to the network test equipment.

  • Publication number: 20140249862
Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatus, computer program code and means for rating and pricing insurance policies are provided. In some embodiments, an automated insurance processing platform rates and prices insurance policies by including a territory factor in the calculation of a premium for the policy. Pursuant to some embodiments, the territory factor is calculated by receiving historical loss data, geographical data, and demographic data, analyzing the historical loss data, the geographical data, and the demographic data to identify data having similar claim behaviors. The historical loss data is analyzed to identify at least a frequency and severity of historical loss by coverage type.

  • Patent number: 8571400
Abstract: Methods for providing a flash management feature (“FMF”) in a camera system include obtaining a flash intensity value calculated for a flash device by a camera, saving the calculated flash intensity value in memory, accepting a user-provided adjustment of the calculated value, saving the adjusted flash intensity value in a memory, and providing, when the camera transmits the calculated value to the flash device for use during image acquisition, the adjusted value to the flash device instead of the calculated value. A communication device to provide a FMF includes a microprocessor configured to obtain a calculated flash intensity value from a camera, a memory, and a user interface configured to display and allow a user to adjust the calculated value. The microprocessor stores the adjusted flash intensity value in memory, and signals the flash device to emit light at the adjusted value during image acquisition by the camera.
