  • Publication number: 20190097027
Abstract: A method of forming a memory cell, e.g., flash memory cell, may include (a) depositing polysilicon over a substrate, (b) depositing a mask over the polysilicon, (c) etching an opening in the mask to expose a surface of the polysilicon, (d) growing a floating gate oxide at the exposed polysilicon surface, (e) depositing additional oxide above the floating gate oxide, such that the floating gate oxide and additional oxide collectively define an oxide cap, (f) removing mask material adjacent the oxide cap, (g) etching away portions of the polysilicon uncovered by the oxide cap, wherein a remaining portion of the polysilicon defines a floating gate, and (h) depositing a spacer layer over the oxide cap and floating gate. The spacer layer may includes a shielding region aligned over at least one upwardly-pointing tip region of the floating gate, which helps protect such tip region(s) from a subsequent source implant process.

  • Publication number: 20190038814
Abstract: A method for controlling generation of biologically desirable voids in a composition placed in proximity to bone or other tissue in a patient by selecting at least one water-soluble inorganic material having a desired particle size and solubility, and mixing the water-soluble inorganic material with at least one poorly-water-soluble or biodegradable matrix material. The matrix material, after it is mixed with the water-soluble inorganic material, is placed into the patient in proximity to tissue so that the water-soluble inorganic material dissolves at a predetermined rate to generate biologically desirable voids in the matrix material into which bone or other tissue can then grow.

  • Publication number: 20180209384
Abstract: An air filter and methods are provided for optimizing filtration of an airstream passing through a volume within an air cleaner cover of an internal combustion engine. The air filter comprises a base plate that includes an inlet receiver for passing the airstream into an air inlet of the engine. A top plate comprises a receiver for fastening the air cleaner cover onto the air filter. Countersinks in the top plate and sleeves extending through the air filter facilitate fastening the air filter onto the air inlet of the engine. The air filter has a tapering height along a length of the air filter to maximize the total surface area of a filter medium within the volume between the air cleaner cover and the engine, and to take advantage of a relatively greater airflow due to a ram air opening in the air cleaner cover.

  • Patent number: 10013501
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to caching web application data. In some embodiments, a computing system maintains a multi-tenant database and an in-memory cache for the database. In some embodiments, the computing system is configured to store data in an entry in response to a store request and retrieve data in response to a read request. In various embodiments, data cached by one tenant is not visible to other tenants. The cache may be partitioned and each partition may have an assigned capacity. The computing system may be configured to evict cached data based on capacity thresholds, least-recently-used information, time-to-live information, amount of data in an entry, etc. The cache may indicate misses when requested data is not present. Various disclosed techniques may improve web application performance while maintaining privacy between tenants.

  • Publication number: 20180165992
Abstract: An apparatus and a method are provided for a filter airflow demonstrator to provide a visual representation of resistance to air flow through an air filter. The airflow demonstrator comprises a housing that includes an opening configured to receive the air filter. An edge portion of the opening receives a perimeter of the air filter, such that a filter medium of the air filter is disposed over the opening. An electric fan within an interior of the housing draws the air flow through the filter medium into the housing. A transparent stand pipe is disposed atop the housing, such that a lumen of the stand pipe transports the air flow from the interior to an exterior of the housing. A ball within the central lumen travels upwards therein under the action of the air flow to provide an indication of resistance to the air flow through the air filter.

  • Patent number: 9990400
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to an in-memory cache. In some embodiments, in response to determining that data for a requested entry is not present in the cache (e.g., because it has been evicted), a computing system is configured to invoke cached program code associated with the entry. In some embodiments, the computing system is configured to provide data generated by the program code in response to requests that indicate the entry. In some embodiments, the computing system is configured to store the generated data in the cache. In various embodiments, this may avoid cache misses and provide configurability in responding to requests to access the cache.

  • Patent number: 9984002
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to an in-memory, software-managed cache configured to store web application data. In some embodiments, operations to cache data specify a visibility parameter for the data, among a plurality of namespaces. In some embodiments, requests to access cached data are checked, based on a request's namespace and the visibility parameter for the cached data, to determine whether they are allowed to proceed. In some embodiments, this may facilitate caching data using shared computing systems and data structures while maintaining configurable privacy for cached data.

  • Publication number: 20180085695
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for a flangeless air filter configured to be mounted onto a flat surface within an air intake system of an internal combustion engine. The flangeless air filter is comprised of a cone-shaped filter medium, retained between a base and a cap, that is fabricated to remove contaminants and particulate matter from an intake airstream. The base includes a pliable seal that forms an airtight connection between the flangeless air filter and the flat surface of the air intake system. A mounting bracket and fasteners may be used to attach the base to the flat surface, compressing the seal there between. In some embodiments, the mounting bracket may be incorporated into, and made a part of the base. A cap is disposed on a top of the flangeless air filter and configured to direct the intake airstream around the cap and toward the filter medium.

  • Publication number: 20180089282
Abstract: Systems, methods and computer-readable media for providing user-driven paging are disclosed. When a user inputs a search query within a productivity application that is configured to support user-driven paging, the system retrieves a portion of the items responsive to the search query and displays the items in the search results. In response to user interactions with the search results, the system retrieves another portion of the items responsive to the search query in anticipation of additional user interactions, thereby providing a seamless presentation of search results, reducing network traffic, and improving network efficiency/performance.

  • Patent number: 9917251
Abstract: A method of forming a resistive memory cell, e.g., a CBRAM or ReRAM, may include forming a bottom electrode layer, oxidizing an exposed region of the bottom electrode layer to form an oxide region, removing a region of the bottom electrode layer proximate the oxide region, thereby forming a bottom electrode having a pointed tip region adjacent the oxide region, and forming an electrolyte region and top electrode over at least a portion of the bottom electrode and oxide region, such that the electrolyte region is arranged between the pointed tip region of the bottom electrode and the top electrode, and provides a path for conductive filament or vacancy chain formation from the pointed tip region of the bottom electrode to the top electrode when a voltage bias is applied to the memory cell. A memory cell and memory cell array formed by such method are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20180038098
Abstract: An intumescent mesh has a flexible grid with a plurality of strands that form a series of openings in the flexible grid, and an intumescent coating applied to the flexible grid. The intumescent coating is made of an expandable graphite and a polymer-based carrier as ingredients and having an activation temperature above which the intumescent coating swells. The grid is sized such that the intumescent coating permits airflow through the flexible grid until the intumescent coating is exposed to temperatures at or above the activation temperature, whereupon the intumescent coating swells to seal the openings and prevent air flow through the flexible grid.
