  • Patent number: 9858187
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to an in-memory cache for web application data. In some embodiments, received transactions include multiple operations, including one or more cache operations to access the in-memory cache. In some embodiments, transactions are performed atomically. In some embodiments, data for the one or more cache operations is stored locally in memory by an application server outside of the in-memory cache until the transaction is successfully completed. This may improve performance and facilitate atomicity, in some embodiments.

  • Publication number: 20170368488
Abstract: An apparatus and a method are provided for a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) air filter to remove airborne molecular contaminants and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from air within building spaces. The air filter comprises a support frame having a shape and size suitable to orient the air filter within a HVAC system. A compound filter medium is retained within the support frame to remove the airborne molecular contaminants and VOCs from air flowing through the HVAC system. A portion of the first media layer is pleated and may comprise a combination of media layers configured to exhibit a relatively high filtration efficiency and a low air pressure drop across the filter medium. A second portion of the filter medium is coupled to the first portion and maintains a uniform distribution of the pleats with the first portion.

Abstract: Compound air filters and methods thereof are provided for sequestering airborne contaminants including volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from air streamed through the air filters. An air filter can include a support frame having a shape and size suitable for seating the air filter within an air-filtering system. A compound filter medium can be retained within the support frame to remove the airborne contaminants and VOCs from air flowing through the air filter and the air-filtering system containing one or more of the air filters. A first media layer of the compound filter medium can be pleated with pleats and configured to exhibit a relatively high filtration efficiency and a low air pressure drop across the filter medium. A second media layer of the filter medium can be coupled to the first media layer and configured to maintain a uniform distribution of the pleats with the first media layer.

  • Publication number: 20170274308
Abstract: An air filter including a base and a first and second frame element is disclosed. Each frame element is coupled to the base. The frame elements have an oscillating shape having a first portion relatively close to the base and a second portion relatively farther from the base. A filter element generally follows the oscillating shape of the frame elements. An air filter system is also disclosed. The air filter system can include the air filter and an air filter container. The air filter container contains the air filter and directs air through the air filter in a predetermined direction. An air filter is disclosed including a support structure and an oscillating shaped filter element attached to the support structure. The oscillating shape increases the air filter surface area for a given volume.

  • Publication number: 20170274313
Abstract: A reusable air filter and methods are provided for filtering air being conducted to an air intake of an internal combustion engine. The reusable air filter comprises a filter medium configured to pass an airstream and entrap particulates flowing within the airstream. The filter medium is comprised of cotton gauze disposed in a sinusoidal arrangement that provides a filtration surface area that is larger than a perimeter area of the filter medium. An end cap and base may be configured to retain the filter medium therebetween. The base provides an interface between the air filter and an air inlet of the engine. The filter medium may be disposed in a flat, panel shape that is bordered by a supportive tray. Support rods may be embedded within the tray to prevent bowing of the tray due to air pressure when coupled with an air box of the engine.

  • Publication number: 20170136156
Abstract: A method for controlling generation of biologically desirable voids in a composition placed in proximity to bone or other tissue in a patient by selecting at least one water-soluble inorganic material having a desired particle size and solubility, and mixing the water-soluble inorganic material with at least one poorly-water-soluble or biodegradable matrix material. The matrix material, after it is mixed with the water-soluble inorganic material, is placed into the patient in proximity to tissue so that the water-soluble inorganic material dissolves at a predetermined rate to generate biologically desirable voids in the matrix material into which bone or other tissue can then grow.

  • Publication number: 20170122270
Abstract: An apparatus and methods are provided for an air cleaner to be mounted onto an air inlet of an internal combustion engine. The air cleaner comprises an air filter that includes a filter medium disposed between a curved base and a cover. The curved base provides an interface between the air filter and the air inlet, and comprises a shape that provides clearance between the curved base and an electric choke installed onto a carburetor comprising the air inlet. The cover secures the air filter and the curved base to the air inlet such that an airstream is drawn through the filter medium and is conducted into the air inlet. A raised portion of the cover is configured to cooperate with the curved base to ensure a desired volume of the airstream is available to the air inlet at substantially all engine speeds.

  • Publication number: 20170116135
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to caching web application data. In some embodiments, a computing system maintains a multi-tenant database and an in-memory cache for the database. In some embodiments, the computing system is configured to store data in an entry in response to a store request and retrieve data in response to a read request. In various embodiments, data cached by one tenant is not visible to other tenants. The cache may be partitioned and each partition may have an assigned capacity. The computing system may be configured to evict cached data based on capacity thresholds, least-recently-used information, time-to-live information, amount of data in an entry, etc. The cache may indicate misses when requested data is not present. Various disclosed techniques may improve web application performance while maintaining privacy between tenants.

  • Publication number: 20170116130
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to an in-memory, software-managed cache configured to store web application data. In some embodiments, operations to cache data specify a visibility parameter for the data, among a plurality of namespaces. In some embodiments, requests to access cached data are checked, based on a request's namespace and the visibility parameter for the cached data, to determine whether they are allowed to proceed. In some embodiments, this may facilitate caching data using shared computing systems and data structures while maintaining configurable privacy for cached data.

  • Publication number: 20170116125
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to an in-memory cache. In some embodiments, in response to determining that data for a requested entry is not present in the cache (e.g., because it has been evicted), a computing system is configured to invoke cached program code associated with the entry. In some embodiments, the computing system is configured to provide data generated by the program code in response to requests that indicate the entry. In some embodiments, the computing system is configured to store the generated data in the cache. In various embodiments, this may avoid cache misses and provide configurability in responding to requests to access the cache.
