  • Patent number: 8152756
Abstract: Disclosed is a surgical needle, or active cannula, that is capable of following a complex path through cavities and tissue within a patient's anatomy. The needle has a plurality of overlapping flexible tubes, each of which has a pre-formed curvature and a pre-determined flexibility. Each of the plurality of flexible tubes is selected based on their respective preformed curvature and flexibility so that a given overlap configuration causes the combination of overlapping flexible tubes to form a predetermined shape that substantially matches a desired path through the anatomy. By individually controlling the translation and angular orientation of each of the flexible tubes, the surgical needle may be guided through the anatomy according to the desired path.

  • Publication number: 20120049477
Abstract: A steering knuckle for a vehicle includes a metal body having a first portion defining a bore therethrough and a second portion extending longitudinally from said first portion. The steering knuckle also includes a ceramic insert disposed with the first portion and the second portion and surrounding the bore. A method of forming the steering knuckle includes disposing the ceramic insert within a cavity of a mold, sufficiently filling the cavity with a molten metal to contact and envelop the ceramic insert with the molten metal, and solidifying the molten metal so as to surround the ceramic insert with the metal body to thereby form the steering knuckle.

  • Patent number: 7752786
Abstract: The present invention relates to airport advertising. Airports are divided into the “landside” to which the general public is permitted and which includes the terminal(s), car parks etc., and the “airside” from which the public is excluded and which includes the runways, taxiing area, apron etc. Billboards (7) which are substantially flush with the ground surface are located in the airside preferably adjacent the runways (2, 3, 4). The billboards (7) are preferably between the runway extremities and a take off/touch down zone (5). Alternatively the billboards are adjacent taxiways or taxiing areas. The billboards can be provided with movable images and/or interior lighting. A typical billboard size is 50 meters×50 meters (0.25 hectares).

  • Publication number: 20070116507
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an apparatus for treating a target stain on a target surface with a stain treatment composition. The apparatus includes a pump with a manually compressible pump housing that defines a chamber. The chamber stores the stain treatment composition The apparatus also includes an applicator with an orifice that is in fluid communication with the chamber. The pump and the applicator are positioned such that the pump housing is manually compressible to deliver treatment composition from the chamber directly to a target stain on the target surface by way of the orifice. Further, the pump is elastically constructed such that the pump housing is manually compressible from an initial configuration to displace the treatment composition in the chamber and resiliently returns to the initial configuration after compression.
