  • Patent number: 11219527
Abstract: A device provides a variety of fracture fixation options should a fracture occur after total hip arthroplasty or total knee arthroplasty, and provides associated methods and apparatus for application of provided fixation. The ability to pre-engineer fracture fixation contingent solutions into femoral or tibial components provides for a distinct clinical advantage in the planning and execution for periprosthetic fracture fixation. Said methods and apparatus include targeting devices which allow for intimate association of fixed angle locking screws in pre-drilled holes in an existing prosthetic, femoral nail, or other components including additional fixation components. Such apparatus and methods further include the use of alignment devices and other components to allow for ease of repair of fractures utilizing the pre-engineered solutions.

  • Patent number: 11215777
Abstract: An optical fiber cable includes a central tube having a first inner and a first outer surface. The first inner surface defines a bore along a longitudinal axis of the cable. Optical fibers are disposed within the bore of the central tube. A cable jacket is disposed around the central tube. The cable jacket has a second inner and a second outer surface defining a first thickness. A skin layer is disposed around the cable jacket. The skin layer has a third inner and a third outer surface defining a second thickness that is 100 ?m or less. The cable jacket material is different from the skin layer material, and the third outer surface defines the outermost surface of the optical fiber cable. Access sections made of the second material extend from the skin layer into the first thickness of the cable jacket.

  • Publication number: 20210404771
Abstract: A composite material system having an aggregate bound by an elastomer encapsulant. The composite material (CM) is designed to defeat impinging projectiles by converting the kinetic energy (KE) in the projectile to damage in the aggregate and the elastomer and increasing the thermal energy in the CM and the projectile via frictional heating. In one embodiment, the CM comprises certain kinds of rocks encapsulated (or bound) in a hyper-elastic polymer, such as polyurethane (“PU”). The CM may be shaped into convenient shapes from modular assembly to create a ballistic resistant surface.

  • Patent number: 11209602
Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure relate to a method of preparing a bundled cable. In the method, a plurality of subunits is wound around a central member in one or more layers of subunits to form the bundled cable. For a section of the central member, each layer of subunits has a pitch over which a subunit of the layer of subunits makes one revolution around the section of the central member and a length of the subunit required to make the one revolution. The subunits are configured to have a nominal helical length equal to the ratio of a nominal length to a nominal pitch. Further, in the method, a measurement of the bundled cable is monitored, and a winding rate of the plurality of subunits is adjusted based on the measurement in order to account for deviations from the nominal helical length.

  • Publication number: 20210334851
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for reducing communications between servers and a mobile device and providing enhanced security and privacy to wireless beacon services. This can involve a broadcast device transmitting a beacon transmission using a short range wireless radio, such a Bluetooth or WiFi, and including a MAC address, a first unique identifier, and a beacon service identifier. The mobile device then selects one or more unique identifiers from received beacon transmissions, by filtering (that is, selecting) those beacon transmissions which include the beacon service identifier. The wireless device then takes further action, if the first unique identifier is present among the selected one or more unique identifiers, using stored information from the server. The stored information may be delivered to the wireless device in response to the wireless device sending the first unique identifier to a server, or the stored information may have been previously downloaded.

  • Publication number: 20210275949
Abstract: The present disclosure provides an exemplary process for a system that may remove particulate from industrial water fluids using a Particulate Removal System (PRS). In some aspects, this system may treat water pulled from different Industrial Fluid Systems (IFS) while doing continuous monitoring and quality tests of the water. In some embodiments, the system may use sensors and other technology to allow for the system to periodically self-clean itself allowing for maximum efficiency and accuracy while also cleaning the water from the IFS. In some implementations, the water from the IFS may be filtered through a Particulate Trap Mechanism (PTM) to ensure that particulate including dissolved material has been removed from the water and separated from possible contamination throughout the system. In some aspects the system may be used for continuous and direct measurement of water quality and automatic chemical level adjustment by systems to maintain a desired range or setpoints.

  • Patent number: 11073620
Abstract: A method for computing and applying alternative uncertainty limits is provided. The method includes generating a main solution from a plurality of received measurement signals. A solution separation is applied using a filter bank to generate sub-solutions from the received plurality of measurement signals. Each sub-solution uses all of the measurement signals from the plurality of measurement signals except one measurement signal to generate the associated sub-solution. Each sub-solution excludes a different measurement signal. One sub-solution is selected as fault free. A difference between the main solution and the selected sub-solution is determined. The determined difference is added to a rare normal protection limit to create a solution with improved integrity bounding. The solution with improved integrity bounding is then implemented.

  • Patent number: 11042869
Abstract: A payment object service receives a request from a giver to associate a payment amount to an object. The request includes one or more images of the object and recipient information, which the payment object service uses to determine whether the association between these images and the information is unique. If the association is unique, the payment object service updates a database to associate the payment amount to the object and enable redemption of the payment amount. When the payment object service receives a request to redeem at least a portion of the payment amount, the payment object service may use one or more images and recipient information obtained from the request to verify that the images and information together correspond to the object. Once the redemption is complete, the payment object service may update the database to specify the current remaining payment amount.
