  • Patent number: 10533249
Abstract: A method of forming a self-cleaning film system includes depositing a fluorinated material selected from the group consisting of fluorinated organic compounds, fluorinated inorganic compounds, and combinations thereof onto a substrate to form a first layer. The method includes removing a plurality of portions of the first layer to define a plurality of cavities in the first layer and form a plurality of projections that protrude from the substrate. The method includes depositing a photocatalytic material onto the plurality of projections and into the plurality of cavities to form a second layer comprising: a plurality of bonded portions disposed in the plurality of cavities and in contact with the substrate, and a non-bonded portion disposed on the plurality of projections and spaced apart from the substrate. The method also includes, after depositing the photocatalytic material, removing the non-bonded portion to thereby form the self-cleaning film system.

  • Patent number: 10518385
Abstract: An apparatus for treating an interior surface of a workpiece comprising at least three nozzles ejecting treating material, with a first one and a second one ejecting the treating material substantially along first and second collinear lines. A third one of the nozzles ejects the treating material substantially along a third line substantially perpendicular to the first and second lines. The treating material ejected from the first one intersects with the treating material ejected from the second one at a first intersection area to radially deflect to form a first radial spray. The treating material ejected from the third one intersects with the first radial spray at a second intersection area to form a second radial spray of treating material. The interior surface of the workpiece adjacent the second intersection area is treated with the treating material of the second radial spray.

  • Patent number: 10486149
Abstract: A photocatalytic system having enhanced photo efficiency/photonic efficacy is provided that includes a thin nucleation material coated on a substrate. The nucleation material enhances lattice matching for a subsequently deposited photocatalytic active material. Such a photocatalytic system may be used as a self-cleaning surface in an application where removal of fingerprints and other residue is desired. In certain aspects, the nucleation material comprises aluminum oxide (Al2O3) and the photocatalytic material comprises an anatase phase of titanium dioxide (TiO2) deposited over the nucleation material. A photocatalytic activity of the system is ?about 50% above a comparative photocatalytic activity where the photocatalytic active material is disposed directly on the substrate. Methods of making such photocatalytic systems are also provided.
