  • Publication number: 20170277332
Abstract: A display assembly includes a display console having an image plane spaced from a touch plane. The touch plane includes at least one touch sensitive area. A controller is operatively connected to the display console, and includes a processor and tangible, non-transitory memory on which is recorded instructions for executing a method of dynamically adjusting at least one touch sensitive area in real-time. The controller may be programmed to determine respective correction shifts to each pixel in the touch sensitive area for multiple viewing positions of one or more users. The display console may be curved. The controller may be programmed to simultaneously a first correction shift to a first touch sensitive area for the viewing position of the first user and a second correction shift to a second touch sensitive area for the viewing position of the second user.

  • Publication number: 20170278218
Abstract: A display assembly includes a display console displaying at least one image on an image plane. The image is divided into a plurality of pixels. A controller is operatively connected to the display console and includes a processor and tangible, non-transitory memory on which is recorded instructions for executing a method for dynamically adjusting the image in real-time for off-axis viewing. The controller is programmed to generate a compensation-over-viewing-angle map which includes respective compensation factors for each of the plurality of pixels for multiple viewing positions. In one embodiment, the controller is programmed to apply separate respective compensation factors for the instantaneous viewing positions of a first user at a time j and a second user at a time k. In another embodiment, the controller is programmed to apply first and second compensation factors simultaneously at a time m, for a first image and a second image, respectively.

  • Publication number: 20170232430
Abstract: A method of forming a self-cleaning film system includes depositing a perfluorocarbon siloxane polymer onto a substrate to form a first layer. The method includes removing a plurality of portions of the first layer to define a plurality of cavities in the first layer and form a plurality of projections that protrude from the substrate. The method includes depositing a photocatalytic material onto the plurality of projections and into the plurality of cavities to form a second layer comprising: a bonded portion disposed in the plurality of cavities and in contact with the substrate, and a non-bonded portion disposed on the plurality of projections and spaced apart from the substrate. The method also includes, after depositing the photocatalytic material, removing the non-bonded portion to thereby form the self-cleaning film system.

  • Publication number: 20170160813
Abstract: Methods, computing devices, and computer-program products are provided for implementing a virtual personal assistant. In various implementations, a virtual personal assistant can be configured to receive sensory input, including at least two different types of information. The virtual personal assistant can further be configured to determine semantic information from the sensory input, and to identify a context-specific framework. The virtual personal assistant can further be configured to determine a current intent. Determining the current intent can include using the semantic information and the context-specific framework. The virtual personal assistant can further be configured to determine a current input state. Determining the current input state can include using the semantic information and one or more behavioral models. The behavioral models can include one or more interpretations of previously-provided semantic information.

  • Patent number: 9657777
Abstract: A bearing having improved wear resistance has a bearing material of a copper-tin-bismuth alloy which may also include phosphorus which has excellent strength, due to the solid solution of copper, tin and phosphorus (when used), attached to a steel backing shell. The material also has good lubricity as a result of the presence of the bismuth which also promotes tin mobilization and formation of a layer of tin on the bearing surface upon use of the bearing. The addition of small amounts of relatively small hard particles in the copper-tin-matrix, particularly Fe3P, MoSi2 or a mixture thereof, provides a suitable hard surface artifact to improve the wear resistance of the bearing material. The bearing includes a sintered powder compact bearing material of a copper-tin-bismuth alloy powder and a metal compound powder which is bonded to a steel backing shell, wherein the metal compound powder has an average particle size of less than 10 ?m.

  • Publication number: 20170139530
Abstract: Touch screen systems are disclosed that include a substrate, a plurality of touch zones, and a plurality of trace lines. Some of the touch screen systems are defined wherein a first trace line has a length, defined from a touch zone to a terminal, that is greater than a length of a second trace line, and wherein the first trace line has a width that is greater than a width of the second trace line. Others of the touch screen system are defined wherein each trace line is defined as having an irregular trace pattern. Further, yet others of the touch screen systems include an insulative coating disposed over the substrate, the touch zones and the plurality of trace lines, wherein the insulative coating has a refractive index that substantially matches a refractive index of a conductive material used to form the trace lines and touch zones.

  • Publication number: 20170056871
Abstract: A film system includes a substrate and a film disposed on the substrate. The film includes a monolayer formed from a fluorocarbon and a plurality of regions disposed within the monolayer such that each of the plurality of regions abuts and is surrounded by the fluorocarbon. Each of the plurality of regions includes a photocatalytic material. A method of forming a film system includes depositing a monolayer formed from a fluorocarbon onto a substrate. After depositing, the method includes ablating the monolayer to define a plurality of cavities therein, wherein each of the plurality of cavities is spaced apart from an adjacent one of the plurality of cavities along the monolayer. After ablating, the method includes embedding a photocatalytic material into each of the plurality of cavities to form a film on the substrate and thereby form the film system.

  • Publication number: 20080320054
Abstract: An apparatus and method for converting databases and software source code from one or more languages or formats to one or more differing target languages or formats by a process of identifying within the original software various functions, storing in a common database format the varying functions resolved into their most basic elements, and based on the stored elements and their interrelationships, writing new target software using one or more templates which incorporate the business logic of the original software by integrating the stored elements and interrelationships. The templates incorporate a unique algorithmic template language which is understood by the constructor and which is easily modified by the user. The language includes, variables, functions and advanced controls such as conditional processing and looping.
