  • Patent number: 11314717
Abstract: Scalable architecture for propagating updates may be implemented for data replicated from a data set. A node may receive updates to items in a data set that have been committed to the data set. The node may determine whether the update should be applied to a replicated portion of the data set. For updates that should be applied, the node may identify another node that hosts the replicated portion of the data set and send a request to the other node to perform a conditional atomic operation to apply the update to the item in the replicated portion of the data set. The condition may compare a version identifier associated with an update and a current version identifier for the item at the other node. If the condition evaluates true, then the update to the item in the replicated portion may be performed.

  • Patent number: 11263270
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable media for heat balancing in a distributed time-series database are disclosed. A time-series database stores time-series data using database clusters. A plurality of leases for tiles representing spatial and temporal partitions of the time-series data are assigned to a first storage node. The time-series database determines that a heat metric for the first storage node has exceeded a threshold. The time-series database determines respective heat metrics for additional storage nodes including a second storage node. The time-series database selects the second storage node based (at least in part) on the respective heat metrics. The time-series database reassigns one or more of the leases from the first storage node to the second storage node. The second storage node stores elements of the time-series data into the plurality of database clusters in one or more tiles associated with the one or more reassigned leases.

  • Patent number: 11250022
Abstract: Offline building of a projected data subset may be performed. A request to create a data set that is a projected subset of data from a source data set may be received. A data store separate from the data store storing the source data set may store a copy of the source data set that is used to replicate items to the projected subset of data according to a schema for the projected data subset. Updates made to the source data set may also be replicated to the projected data subset according to the schema. Conflicts between replicated items and replicated updates to the projected data set may be resolved by comparing a version identifier for the replicated update and replicated item to determine what to store in the projected data subset.

  • Patent number: 11231862
Abstract: Localized lookups for performing access requests to a database may be implemented. Mapping information for storage nodes of a network-based service storing different data for different databases may be obtained by a routing application co-hosted with a client application of the database at a same container host. Access requests from the client application are handled by the routing application and sent to storage nodes identified using the mapping information. An authorization token may be included along with the requests to verify authorization to perform the access request at the storage nodes.

  • Patent number: 11218877
Abstract: A provisioning device may be shipped to a client and used to automatically provision an IoT device to join a local network to communicate with a remote service provider. In response to a trigger input, the provisioning device creates a wireless hotspot that is recognizable by an IoT device as a provisioning hotspot. The provisioning device receives a signal from the IoT device indicating that the IoT device is available to be provisioned. The provisioning device obtains provisioning data and transmits the provisioning data to the IoT device. The IoT device uses the provisioning data to connect to a local wireless network and to establish a connection to the remote service provider. The IoT device may then use one or more IoT services of the service provider.

  • Publication number: 20210400112
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and computer-accessible storage media for providing redundant storage gateways. A client may create a storage gateway group and add storage gateways to the group. The client may assign one or more volumes on a remote data store to each the storage gateways in the group. Volume data for each storage gateway in the group may be replicated to at least one other storage gateway in the group. If one of the gateways in the group becomes unavailable, one or more other gateways in the group may take over volumes previously assigned to the unavailable gateway, using the replicated data in the group to seamlessly resume gateway operations for the respective volumes. Client processes that previously communicated with the unavailable gateway may be manually or automatically directed to the gateway(s) that are taking over the unavailable gateway's volumes.

  • Publication number: 20210336844
Abstract: A storage gateway serves as an interface between processes on a customer network and a service provider. The storage gateway is located on-premise with the customer processes. To customer processes, it appears that data is stored locally. However, the storage gateway interfaces with a remote storage service to store the data. For cached gateways, the primary data store is a remote data store, while frequently accessed data may be locally cached by the gateway. Reads may be satisfied from the local cache or from virtual data storage; writes are handled so as to appropriately update data blocks in the local cache and/or in virtual data storage. For shadowing gateways, the primary data store is the local data store; reads are passed through to a local data store, and writes are shadowed to virtual data storage as well as being sent to local data store.

  • Patent number: 11159338
Abstract: A controlling device scans a label of a network-connected device to obtain a first set of information from a primary layer of the label, where the first set of information is about the network-connected device. The controlling device scans the label to obtain a second set of information from a secondary layer of the label, whereby the secondary layer is distinct from the primary layer. The controlling device transmits a request to a device server associated with the network-connected device to obtain device records for the device, whereby the request includes the second set of information. In response to the request, the controlling device receives the one or more device records.

  • Patent number: 11122023
Abstract: A computing environment is disclosed that receives from devices requests directed toward services accessible in the environment, and that forwards communications from services in the environment to devices registered with the environment. During a registration process at the environment, devices are assigned a device identifier that is used to identify and authenticate each particular device and requests communicated from and to the device via the environment. The computing environment maintains state information for each device that has been registered with the system. As the device interacts with the system, the state information is updated to reflect the changes in the device. When requests to perform functions are received from devices, the computing environment determines for the particular device and the particular function requested what processing needs to be performed by the environment in response to the request.

  • Patent number: 11030220
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed to implement, in a database system, global table management operations for global tables or objects that are replicated across multiple locations. In embodiments, for a regional replica of a global table, a requested change to a metadata property of the replica (e.g., an attribute data type, a write throughput limit, or a time-to-live setting) is propagated to other replicas of the global table at other locations. In embodiments, before performing the requested management operation, the database system may first verify that the operation can be successfully performed in all locations. In embodiments, the operation may be performed optimistically without verification, and rolled back if it cannot be performed everywhere. In embodiments, to serialize management operations on a global table, the database system may check for other pending management operations via a shared control object, and proceed when any pending operations are finished.

  • Patent number: 10999184
Abstract: A distributed load balancer in which a router receives packets from at least one client and routes packet flows to multiple load balancer nodes. The router exposes a public IP address and the load balancer nodes all advertise the same public IP address to the router. The router may implement a per-flow hashed multipath routing technique, for example an equal-cost multipath (ECMP) routing technique, to distribute the flows across the load balancer nodes. Thus, the multiple load balancer nodes may service a single public endpoint. The load balancer nodes may advertise to the router according to the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP). Rather than advertising itself, however, a load balancer node may be advertised to the router by one or more neighbor load balancer nodes; the neighbor nodes may terminate the BGP sessions with the router in response to determining that the load balancer node has failed.
