  • Publication number: 20150275890
Abstract: A system for controlling an integrated pump and energy recovery system is disclosed. The processor-based device is configured to receive a position signal representative of a measured position of a piston assembly movable between a top dead center and a bottom dead center of a hydraulic cylinder and a pumping cylinder, from the position sensor. The processor-based device is also configured to receive a pressure signal representative of a measured pressure of at least one of a fluid medium fed from the pumping cylinder to a filtering device, a hydraulic fluid fed from the hydraulic pump to the hydraulic cylinder, from the pressure sensing unit. The processor-based device is further configured to generate a control signal based on the position signal and the pressure signal, and transmit the control signal to the hydraulic power unit to control measured position of the piston assembly and a pressure of the fluid medium.

  • Patent number: 9080402
Abstract: A method of removing an unexpanded shoe comprises disposing a tool in a wellbore. The tool includes a latch assembly and a mill body. The latch assembly is engaged with a shoe assembly that is coupled to the wellbore by a tubular having an expanded portion and an unexpanded portion. The mill body is rotated relative to the latch assembly so as to mill the unexpanded portion of the tubular until the shoe assembly is uncoupled from the wellbore. The tool and the shoe assembly are then pulled through the expanded portion and out of the wellbore.

  • Publication number: 20150112461
Abstract: According to some embodiments, an environmental hazard containment module may exchange location information with a plurality of remote containment modules. Hazard location information associated with an environmental hazard may be detected, and a containment configuration may be determined comprising a contiguous arrangement of the containment module and the plurality of remote containment modules such that the hazard location is within an area defined by the containment configuration. A motion portion may be instructed to move the containment module in accordance with the determined containment configuration. According to some embodiments, information associated with the containment configuration may be transmitted to the plurality of remote containment modules.

  • Publication number: 20140367118
Abstract: An expandable translating joint comprises a first expandable tubular member having a lower end with a recessed inner wall portion and a second expandable tubular member having an upper end with a recessed outer wall portion. The second expandable tubular member is partially disposed within the first expandable tubular member such that the recessed inner wall portion at least partially surrounds the recessed outer wall portion. A retainer is coupled to the recessed inner wall portion of the first expandable tubular member and disposed within the recessed outer wall portion of the lower second expandable tubular member. An expansion cone is operable to move axially through and radially expand the first and second expandable tubulars. The first expandable tubular can translate relative to the second tubular member both before and after expansion.

  • Patent number: 8745713
Abstract: A system and method to prevent the installation by a hacker of malicious software onto networked electronic systems, computers, and the like, by removing the read, write and execute administrator permission files of a system's OS, and placing them in a in a separate, protected server in the cloud. The secure cloud server records the system's unique ID(s). After relocation of the authorized administrator's permissions files, a strong password is requested from the authorized administrator. Thereafter, the network path to the secure cloud server files is encrypted and recorded on the protected system. This path change replaces the former local path in the computer system to those files. The result of these changes to the OS on a protected system eliminates the hacker's access to the system from a network to illicitly become an administrator of the hacked system.

  • Patent number: 8178998
Abstract: A system and method for delivering electrical power-on-demand to at least one load circuit wherein the system operates primarily with reactive power. The method includes inductively coupling power from a source in a primary circuit to one or more load circuits. The system is arranged to store magnetic energy in a core surrounded by planar coils positioned in parallel. The magnetic circuit is toroidal, symmetrical and circuitous. Magnetic energy is transferred between loads through the system. Back currents from the loads are able to be converted to magnetic field energy contributing to the total of stored energy available to the loads. Since the combined energy held in the system is primarily reactive, internal energy losses are small.

  • Patent number: 8180597
Abstract: One embodiment of the invention provides a method for modeling a variety of three-dimensional (3D) utility networks constructed from individual parts. In one embodiment, users may construct a utility network by selecting and assembling a network of inter-connected parts, where each part may be associated one or more design rules. When a part is placed within the model, the rules corresponding to the part may be applied. The network part rules may be configured to adjust the position, properties or attributes associated with a network part to comply with a rule. Alternatively, a user interface display may provide an indication of any network parts of a 3D model that violate a particular network part rule.

  • Patent number: 7806296
Abstract: A variable design bathroom accessory having a holder, a central axis, a fixed tier attached to the holder, and a rotatable tier rotatable about the holder and in proximity to the fixed tier. The fixed tier has a fixed side with a design thereon. The rotatable tier has a rotatable side with another design thereon. The rotatable tier is rotatable around the central axis to align with the fixed visible side such that the fixed tier design and rotatable tier design form a composite design.

  • Patent number: 7756845
Abstract: An improved system and method is provided for learning a weighted index to categorize objects using ranked recall. In an offline embodiment, a learning engine may learn a weighted index for classifying objects using ranked recall by training during an entire initial pass of a training sequence of a collection of objects. In an online embodiment, a learning engine may learn a weighted index for classifying objects using ranked recall by dynamically updating the weighted index as each instance of the collection of objects may be categorized. Advantageously, an instance of a large collection of objects may be accurately and efficiently recalled for many large scale applications with hundreds of thousands of categories by quickly identifying a small set of candidate categories for the given instance of the object.

  • Patent number: 7698110
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a method, apparatus and article of manufacture for modeling a variety of three-dimensional (3D) utility networks constructed from individual network part elements. In one embodiment, users may construct a utility network by selecting and assembling a network of inter-connected parts, where each part is selected from a pipe and structure list. Connectivity among parts is established through part placement. Structure and connected pipe properties may be managed as a single property set. As parts are placed in the utility network, auto-sizing logic resizes existing structures to connected pipes. Pipes and structures are represented by part model data that defines a set of common behavior and properties. When a user modifies part model data or property sets or moves inter-connected parts, a logic component resizes and automatically updates any associated two-dimensional and three-dimensional views of the utility network.

  • Patent number: 7561990
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and article of manufacture provide the ability to update a drawing surface in a CAD/GIS computer application. First, a drawing surface is displayed in a CAD/GIS application. A surface edit operation is then performed on the drawing surface. The CAD/GIS application then determines if an automatic rebuild option is active. If the rebuild option is active, the drawing surface is dynamically and automatically rebuilt to reflect the surface edit operation. Alternatively, if the automatic rebuild option is inactive (e.g., toggled off), the drawing surface is flagged as out-of-date.

  • Patent number: 7523396
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and article of manufacture provide the ability to manipulate a drawing surface in a CAD/GIS computer application. A drawing surface is displayed in a CAD/GIS application followed by the performance of a surface edit operation on the drawing surface. The surface edit operation is stored/saved as an atomic property in a list of surface edit operations. The list of surface edit operations is displayed in a graphical user interface (GUI). Each surface edit operation may be independently toggled on/off in the GUI and such toggling is reflected in the CAD/GIS application by displaying an effect of executing the surface edit operation if toggled on and displaying the drawing surface without execution of the surface edit operation if toggled off.
