  • Patent number: 9955760
Abstract: An adaptive ambulatory support includes a shock absorbing and pivoting tip assembly attached to the staff of a walking aid, such as a cane, crutch or walker. The shock absorbing and pivoting tip assembly includes a shock absorber sandwiched between a lower portion and an upper portion. The shock absorber may be a bendable spring or elastic material. The tip assembly enables the shaft of the walking aid to dynamically pivot without the loss of adherence of the lower portion to the floor surface and simultaneous provides the adaptive shock absorbing capability in any angle during ambulation.

  • Patent number: 9936690
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the processing of tissue and cellular material during cryopreservation and/or processing for microscopy. The method and apparatus maximizes heat transfer coefficients by using liquid-free cryopreservation protocols and maximizing glass transition characteristics through increasing pressure during cryopreservation. Cooling rates combined with megapascal pressures reduced the required concentration of cryoprotective agents (CPAs) needed for ice-free cell and tissue cryopreservation.

  • Publication number: 20170362029
Abstract: A portable trash bag opener is an apparatus that is used to hold open the rim of a trash bag while a user disposes items into the trash bag. The apparatus includes a hoop, a first arc-shaped wing, a second arc-shaped wing, and a handle. The hoop is used to internally brace the rim of the trash bag. The first arc-shaped wing and the second arc-shaped wing are used to externally clamp the rim of the trash bag against the hoop. The first arc-shaped wing and the second-arc shaped wing are positioned opposite to each other about the hoop. The handle allows the user to easily grasp the apparatus with one of their hands.

  • Patent number: 9795530
Abstract: A walker/cane assembly, multi-legged cane, and single-pointed cane may share common parts that may be easily connected and detached to allow a user to convert a walker/cane assembly to a multi-legged cane and/or a single-pointed cane. Accordingly, a user may use a single assembly that may be quickly and easily modified to meet the user's needs, such as his/her current balance or energy level. One or more folding mechanisms may be employed to allow the walker/cane assembly, or the frame forming a portion of the walker/cane assembly, to be easily collapsed and folded. This may allow a user to store the walker/cane assembly, or the frame portion of the assembly, in a smaller amount of space than the expanded walker/cane assembly or the frame portion of the assembly may otherwise occupy.

  • Publication number: 20160267491
Abstract: Compliance with retail display regulations that retailers are subject to within a plurality of jurisdictions is managed. Retail display regulations may differ from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. To facilitate compliance, retail display regulations for a plurality of jurisdictions are centrally maintained. The regulations may then be used to dynamically generate retail display materials for locations across a plurality of jurisdictions with different regulatory schemes. The central storage and/or maintenance of the retail display regulations may facilitate compliance with disparate regulatory schemes that retailers are subject to based in part of retail location. Central storage of the retail display regulations may facilitate certification of compliance by regulating entities associated with the jurisdictions.

  • Publication number: 20160239915
Abstract: A trading platform for trading financial instruments, and in particular for generating pre-trade prices. In an exemplary embodiment, the trading platform includes computer software modules and provides graphical user interfaces to accept dealer bids and offers, aggregate the dealer positions, generate a pre-trade price, permit dealers to opt-in to a matching process (the sweep), and determine matches by comparing the positions and potential opposing positions. The trading systems and methods may generate a yield curve from the dealer bids and offers which may be used for the valuation of positions and collateral. The trading platform is also capable of matching orders and sending orders to be executed.
