  • Patent number: 9107094
Abstract: In embodiments of the present disclosure improved capabilities are described for increasing the bandwidth in a network, where centralized optimization servers are utilized to reduce the time-latency for applications being run from a user device. Further, by associating additional local optimization servers, application functionality may be optionally transferred from the centralized optimization server to the local optimization server in instances where a number of user devices are requesting the same data via their access through the same access node, and in other instances, to the effect that associated communication network bandwidth utilization is reduced or eliminated.

  • Publication number: 20150209068
Abstract: Lancet assemblies for puncturing the skin and creating an incision. Upon activation, the disclosed assemblies are configured to move through a firing sequence in which a puncturing instrument extends through an aperture in the device and then is retracted back into a housing of the device and cannot be re-fired. The assemblies are designed so that the aperture in contact with the incision site does not move relative to the incision site during the firing sequence. Accordingly, the tolerance of the assembly is reduced and the reliability of the incisions created by the assembly, including the depth and width of such incisions, is increased.

  • Publication number: 20150086039
Abstract: A wearable microphone array apparatus and system used as a directional audio system and as an assisted listening device. The present invention advances hearing aids and assisted listening devices to allow construction of a highly directional audio array that is wearable, natural sounding, and convenient to direct, as well as to provide directional cues to users who have partial or total loss of hearing in one or both ears. The advantages of the invention include simultaneously providing high gain, high directivity, high side lobe attenuation, and consistent beam width; providing significant beam forming at lower frequencies where substantial noises are present, particularly in noisy, reverberant environments; and allowing construction of a cost effective body-worn or body-carried directional audio device.

  • Publication number: 20140334360
Abstract: The present disclosure is related to a large-scale broadband wireless network capable of providing a very high wireless data capacity, wherein one aspect of the system utilizes a periodic beam forming system. When a wireless base station cell operates a periodic beam forming system, it is necessary to locate each user served by the cell within a sub-area covered by one of the m times N RF beams generated by the system. Methods for locating users within RF beam sub-areas are disclosed herein, where a user may be scheduled for transmission or reception only when an RF beam is focused on the sub-area that covers the user location. The present disclosure pertains to the systems and methods that may be used to process transmissions of and receptions by the baseband system of an LTE wireless base station that employs a periodic beam forming RF and antenna system.
