  • Publication number: 20100093469
Abstract: A golf tee comprises substantially conically ball support component with a substantially annular edge substantially surrounding a central recess. The recess is sufficiently deep so that an annular surface area of the ball touches the edge along a circular contact zone when the ball is teed up. A shaft member extends from an apex of the ball support component and comprises a material that breaks or bends as a club head moves through a teed up golf ball to provide a resistance to such movement approaching zero.

  • Patent number: 7664928
Abstract: A technique that improves both processor performance and associated data bandwidth through user-defined interfaces that can be added to a configurable and extensible microprocessor core. These interfaces can be used to communicate status or control information and to achieve synchronization between the processor and any external device including other processors. These interfaces can also be used to achieve data transfer at the rate of one data element per interface in every clock cycle. This technique makes it possible to design multiprocessor SOC systems with high-speed data transfer between processors without using the memory subsystem. Such a system and design methodology offers a complete shift from the standard bus-based architecture and allows designers to treat processors more like true computational units, so that designers can more effectively utilize programmable solutions rather than design dedicated hardware.

  • Publication number: 20070057249
Abstract: A semiconductor light emitting device includes an active region, an n-type region, and a p-type region comprising a portion that extends into the active region. The active region may include multiple quantum wells separated by barrier layers, and the p-type extension penetrates at least one of the quantum well layers. The extensions of the p-type region into the active region may provide uniform filling of carriers in the individual quantum wells of the active region by providing direct current paths into individual quantum wells. Such uniform filling may improve the operating efficiency at high current density by reducing the carrier density in the quantum wells closest to the bulk p-type region, thereby reducing the number of carriers lost to nonradiative recombination.

  • Publication number: 20070050389
Abstract: A method for analyzing and organizing expressions about topics (ETs) identified in digitally available content is provided. Expressions about topics could be categorized in at least two distinct groups, such as positive ETs and negative ETs. Each categorized expression-topic set could be ranked within its own group based on a variety of parameters. The method could be used for displaying advertisements on a digitally available page based on expressions about topics. The method could also be used for searching the categorized expression-topic sets for expressions about a topic of interest. The advantage of the method is that it would increase contextual relevance in advertisement placement and search queries.

  • Patent number: 5754716
Abstract: Improved optical mode mixers for use in conjunction with optical fibers and devices incorporating optical fibers are disclosed and claimed. The optical mode mixers are formed from a coherent, orderly bundle of numerous small diameter optical fibers in a longitudinally aligned, parallel array. The mode mixer is optically linked to the fiber optic cable and effectively reduces undesirable high order modes of light transmission while eliminating alignment sensitivity. The coherent fiber optic bundles may be as short as ten wavelengths of light in length and will have a diameter substantially equal to that of the fiber optic cable to which they are coupled.
