  • Patent number: 7996000
Abstract: A network device, system, and method are directed towards enabling a determination for page size tailoring of content based, in part, on estimating of effects of processes applicable to preparing the content for use on a specified mobile device. Before performing the processes on the content, an estimation of the effects of the configuring processes may be determined. If the estimated content size is determined to be too large for the specified mobile device's memory footprint, page tailoring techniques may be applied to the content. Such page tailoring techniques may include stretching the content across a plurality of files, discarding a portion of the content, reducing portions of the content, or the like. Various processes may then be applied to the content to configure it for use on the specified mobile device.

  • Publication number: 20080177825
Abstract: A platform for customized rendering of an editable mobile markup language document for a mobile device. A rendering context and an editable mobile markup language (MML) document for the mobile device is received by the platform, which performs processes that can paginate and fully render pages that are subsequently delivered for display by the mobile device. The MML document and its modules and content are independent of the rendering context for the mobile device. The mobile device can be arranged as a client device that provides for wired and/or wireless communication over a network.

  • Publication number: 20080155396
Abstract: A platform for customized rendering of markup language (ML) documents into a document in a device specific language that is subsequently provided for display by a target remote device. A rendering context for the target remote device and an ML document is received by the platform, which performs processes that can paginate and fully render pages that are subsequently delivered for display by the target remote device. A post-rendering process may also be provided to perform additional processing of media items for the device specific language document. This additional processing may include including links to or embedding media items in pages of the device specific language document. The remote device can be arranged as a client device that provides for wired and/or wireless communication over a network.

  • Patent number: 7074737
Abstract: A process for the alkylation of triphenylphosphate by reaction of triphenylphosphate with an olefin in the presence of an effective amount of a solid acid catalyst selected from the group consisting of at least one zeolite, heteropolyacid or salt thereof, metal triflate, non-aryl group-containing metal sulfonic acid, metal halide Lewis acid, or compatible mixture of any such catalyst.

  • Publication number: 20060039840
Abstract: A device for producing chlorine dioxide vapor in a time release manner when exposed to ambient moisture is provided. The device comprises two outer membranes and an inner membrane. The outer and inner membranes are sealed together along the edges of the device. The outer and inner membranes together form a pouch comprising two separate compartments separated by the inner membrane. Each compartment is provided with a dry reactant (e.g. an acid component and a metal chlorite component) for producing chlorine dioxide vapor. The outer membranes are permeable to moisture and chlorine dioxide vapor, and impervious to liquid water and the dry reactants. The acid component in one of the compartments is hydrated by the moisture penetrated through the outer membranes, and the hydrated acid component is absorbed by the inner membrane and transported across the inner membrane to come into contact with the metal chlorite component in the other compartment to produce chlorine dioxide vapor.

  • Patent number: 6033772
Abstract: A magnetic recording medium for use in making high-density computer hard disks. It contains: (a) an aluminum or Ni/P substrate; (b) a chromium underlayer on the substrate; (c) a four-component magnetic recording layer on the underlayer; and (d) a carbon protective layer on the magnetic recording layer. The magnetic recording layer comprises 66-78 atom percent of cobalt, 12-16 atom percent of chromium, 6-10 atom percent of nickel, and 4-8 atom percent of tantalum. The CoCrTiTa four-component exhibits a high coercivity (greater than 2,800 Oe), which results in many improved qualities, including increased recording density, reduced noise, improved off-track capability (OTC), and reduced on-track error rate (OTER). It also also allows the sputtering process to be conducted at a substantially lowered temperature.

  • Patent number: 5981018
Abstract: The present invention relates to high-coercivity magnetic recording media used in a hard disk drive. The magnetic recording medium comprises a nonmagnetic substrate, a seed layer comprising NiAl alloy sputtered onto the substrate, a sublayer comprising CrV alloy sputtered onto the seed layer, a magnetic layer comprising CoCrPtTaNb alloy sputtered onto the sublayer, and a carbon overcoat sputtered onto the magnetic layer. The magnetic recording medium of such a structure has improved signal-to-noise ratio, coercivity, overwrite capability, and orientation ratio thereby greatly improving the storage density and read/write capacity of the magnetic recording medium. Furthermore, the coercivity of the magnetic layer of CoCrPtTaNb alloy according to the present invention can be as high as 4000 Oersteds even without the use of the NiAl seed layer.

  • Patent number: 5873984
Abstract: A thin-film magnetic recording media is prepared which contains a carbon overcoat sputtered on a magnetic recording layer. The carbon overcoat is sputtered on the magnetic recording layer using a sputtering process which is conducted in a sputtering chamber having an inert gas and a mixture of nitrogen gas and hydrogen gas, wherein said nitrogen gas and hydrogen gas are provided at a mole ratio of nitrogen/hydrogen between about 0.5 and about 1. The hydrogen and nitrogen doped amorphous carbon overcoat exhibits excellent mechanical properties and tribological performance.
