  • Publication number: 20160200428
Abstract: The invention provides methods and systems for controlling speed of an aircraft during an autonomous pushback manoeuvre, i.e. under the aircraft's own power without a pushback tractor. The method includes applying a torque to at least one landing gear wheel of the aircraft, the torque being in a direction opposite to the backwards rolling direction of rotation of the landing gear wheel. The torque applied does not exceed a limit for ensuring aircraft longitudinal stability. For longitudinal stability the torque applied should not cause the aircraft to risk a tip-over event.

  • Publication number: 20160197889
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to facilitating secure voice and data communication by way of a commercially available communication device (i.e., smartphone/smartdevice). Specifically, the device and system for pairing a specialized cryptographic device with a non-specialized communication device, wherein the two devices engage in bidirectional communication to facilitate encryption of voice and data for secure transmission over a network. While providing the sensitive cryptographic features for secure communications, the cryptographic device further implements and enforces security policies for the communication device by way if an intermediary native application executed at the communication device. The encryption device is suitably designed to be carried discreetly and may be used in conjunction with a commercially available communication device.

  • Patent number: 9351569
Abstract: An apparatus for storing and presenting parts to a robot for automated tending of various manufacturing processes. The method and apparatus allow for an operator, human or other tending robot, to open and place parts into a series of vertically stacked drawers within an enclosure. On the opposing side of the enclosure is the production side where a robot opens an individual drawer and while the drawer is open, successively picks out parts for use in the manufacturing processes as it is programmed to do. The part may or may not be placed back into the drawer based on the part manufacturing process. The robot then closes the drawer and successively cycles through the drawers, opening them on the production side and once the parts have been processed, closing them. The operator then successively opens each drawer, removes any processed parts, if placed back into the drawer as dictated by the part manufacturing process, refills the drawer with new parts and then closes it.

  • Patent number: 9213566
Abstract: In one embodiment, a mechanism to implement security in process-based virtualization is disclosed. In one embodiment, a method includes maintaining a security policy for a process-based virtualization system, initializing a virtual machine (VM) in the process-based virtualization system, assigning a security label to the VM, and enforcing the security policy on the VM based on the security label of the VM in order to isolate the VM from other VM's in the process-based virtualization system.

  • Publication number: 20150345091
Abstract: Methods for restoring tidal areas adjacent to a tidal water area are provided. The method can comprise: pumping water from the tidal water area; and directing a high-pressure water stream, using the water pumped from the tidal water area, to the bottom surface of the tidal water area during an incoming tide period. The high-pressure water stream impacts the bottom surface of the tidal water area with sufficient force to dislodge sediment from the bottom surface into the tidal water area.

  • Patent number: 9137935
Abstract: A method and apparatus for self-assembling a part on a substrate are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a method includes placing a substrate having a first binding site capable of generating a first magnetic field and having a first shaped surface with a first droplet conformably disposed thereon into a first fluid; placing a part having a second binding site capable of generating a second magnetic field and having a second shaped surface with a second droplet conformably disposed on the second shaped surface into the first fluid; and attracting the part towards the first binding site such that an equilibrium is formed between an attractive force and a repulsive force such that the part is free to rotate about the first binding site to minimize the repulsive force when the first and second shaped surfaces rotate into an alignment causing the part to aligned with the first binding site.

  • Publication number: 20140372501
Abstract: In one embodiment, a display engine and one or more data files are determined. They are then sent to a website provider's network. The display engine and data are used to provide ASP functionality without contacting the ASP network for every user request. So even if the ASP network is not available, the ASP functionality provided by the display engine and data is always accessible to the website provider. For example, the website provider's network may provide the ASP functionality by displaying data in one or more data files at a user's display device. This is performed without relying on the availability of the ASP network.

  • Publication number: 20140075800
Abstract: A flash redirecting recoil compensator for a firearm includes a compensator body that provides a platform for the rest of the components. The compensator body attaches with a firearm in order to reduce recoil force and redirect the muzzle flash away from the site of the shooter. An attachment chamber and a discharge chamber of the compensator body are positioned through a top portion of the compensator body from a rear face to a front face. The attachment chamber fastens the compensator body into the firearm while the discharge chamber provides space for the discharging bullet. At least two vectoring ports, which are traversed through the compensator body and into the discharge chamber, redirect hot gas and unspent propellants away from the firearm after the bullet is discharged as the redirection of the hot gas and unspent propellants reduce the recoil force and provide a clear shooting sight.

  • Patent number: 8607302
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention extend protection of network traffic between different security realms based on security labeling. In particular, embodiments of the present invention label provide for implicit labeling of traffic shared between different security realms. The traffic may be shared using IPsec protocols. A gateway inspects the IPsec traffic and identifies security associations (SAs) of the IPsec traffic. The gateway then determines a security label of the SA. Various access control policies may then be applied to the traffic based on its security label.
