  • Patent number: 8634125
Abstract: System and method for simultaneous display of multiple images using a single light modulator array. A preferred embodiment comprises a light source that produces a light with desired spectral characteristics, a color filter optically coupled to the light source, and an array of light modulators optically coupled to the color filter. The color filter filters light from the light source to produce light of desired wavelengths and the array of light modulators simultaneously displays multiple images onto a display plane. Portions of the array of light modulators are designed so that each portion can independently display an image and the light source provides needed light to display the image.

  • Patent number: 8611032
Abstract: Embodiments described herein include systems and methods for correcting for errors caused by disturbances to disk drives, such as disturbances due to shocks or vibrations incident on the drive. For example, systems and methods described herein advantageously correct for corruption to current data as well as previously written. Data may be rewritten in the current track that was being written to when the disturbance occurred, and may also be rewritten to one or more nearby previously written tracks, such as one or more adjacent tracks. According to some aspects, the direction of head deviation is used to select the appropriate corrective action.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: December 17, 2013
    Assignee: Western Digital Technologies, Inc.
Inventors: Eric J. Champion, James N. Malina
  • Patent number: 8554741
Abstract: A host computer receives log structured data from a data storage device (DSD), wherein the log structured data comprises logical block addresses (LBAs) corresponding to a plurality of write operations performed on the DSD, and the log structured data comprises at least one duplicated instance of an LBA, wherein each instance of the LBA represents a different write operation. Timeline information related to the log structured data is displayed in an accounting window.

  • Patent number: 8144321
Abstract: According to one embodiment of the present invention, a system for encoding an optical spectrum includes a dispersive element, a digital micromirror device (DMD) array, a detector, and a controller. The dispersive element receives light from a source and disperses the light to yield light components of different wavelengths. The digital micromirror device (DMD) array has micromirrors that modulate the light to encode an optical spectrum of the light. The detector detects the light that has been modulated. The controller generates an intensity versus time waveform representing the optical spectrum of the detected light.

  • Publication number: 20080231763
Abstract: A system for displaying and capturing images with a portable device includes a projector to project an image, a position sensor to determine positional information, and a processor coupled to the projector and to the position sensor. The processor adjusts the image based on the positional information. The position sensor detects the location and orientation of the portable device so that the processor adjusts the image to display only a portion of the image encompassing a point of view pointed to by the portable device. Displaying a portion of the image reduces projector complexity and processing/data requirements. The use of the position sensor may also help reduce processing/data requirements when capturing images.
