Abstract: Certain block copolymers may be suitable as compatibilizers in multiple component polymeric blends and composites. The utilization of at least one block copolymer in polymeric blends augments physical properties in the polymeric blend composite. The addition of block copolymers to polymeric blends may enhance certain mechanical properties of the composite, such as tensile strength, impact resistance, modulus, and heat stability, over the initial levels achieved by polymeric blends without incorporating block copolymers.

Also provided are composition comprising a plurality of fillers having surfaces and a block copolymer wherein at least one segment of the block copolymer is capable of interacting with the fillers upon application in a polymeric matrix. Compositions comprising a flame retardant compound and a block copolymer wherein at least one segment of the block copolymer is capable of interacting with the flame retardant compound upon application in a polymeric matrix are also provided.

Abstract: A technique for content delivery in wireless networks which associates a desired broadcast/multicast (BCMC) territory with the content, estimates cell sector coverage area from a subscriber location data set, and then identifies a set of cell sectors to be sent the content using a BCMC protocol. The method involves first receiving a description of a designated broadcast/multicast (BCMC) territory in terms of a physical area. Next, a content indicator associated with the BCMC territory is identified. The content indicator identifies content, such as text or image data, that is to be supplied to subscribers located in the territory. A cell sector coverage area is then estimated from a subscriber location data set wherein the data set includes at least a geographic location and a cell sector identifier for multiple subscribers. The BCMC territory description and the estimated cell sector coverage areas are then compared against the subscriber location data set to identify a set of targeted cell sectors.

Abstract: Block copolymers are suitable additives for polymeric composites containing microspheres. The block copolymers have at least one segment that is capable of interacting with the microspheres thereby enhancing the physical characteristics of the composition.

Abstract: A device for the application of solid particulate material to a target surface includes one or more containers for storing the solid particulate material and one or more transfer devices for transferring the solid particulate material from the containers to the target surface. Each container includes one or more gates positioned substantially at the container's outlet. Mechanisms are provided for controlling the extent to which each individual gate opens, while the device is in use; and for controlling the rate at which the transfer devices transfer the solid particulate material from the containers while the device for the application of solid particulate material to a target surface is in use.

Abstract: Detection of Plasmodium ssp. by analysis of extrachromosomal DNA. It has been found that the molecular composition, physical arrangements, and nucleotide sequences of the extrachromosomal plastid-like element and mitochondrial element are highly conserved in different Plasmodium ssp. The high degree of homology has been used to design genera-specific or species specific diagnostic assays with a low frequency of false negatives. Plastid and mitochondrial DNA sequences are disclosed. The use of the sequences is claimed for detection, prophylactic, and therapeutic treatment of Plasmodium ssp. infection in human or other animals.

Abstract: In an enterprise server environment having a uniform resource locator (URL) access management and control system. The server includes a user authentication logic to authenticate users attempting to connect to the server to access URL file and directories residing in the server. In one embodiment of the present invention, the user is provided with an identification token and a user URL access policy which allows the user's credentials to be validated and permitted access to a list of URLs in the directory server. In one embodiment of the present invention, a URL access enforcement logic uses the user's URL access policy to determine which URLs in the directory server a user may or may not access. The user's URL access policy may include an access deny or an access allow value which respectively denies or allows the user access to particular URL.

The tool guide includes a base for positioning on the work piece. The base has a base edge for aligning in a substantially parallel orientation to a longitudinal axis of the work piece, and a work edge oriented perpendicular to the base edge for being oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the work piece when the base edge is aligned parallel with the longitudinal axis. The guide also includes a tape measure mounting assembly mounted on the base for mounting a tape measure on the base. The tape measure mounting assembly is slidably moveable on the base along a line oriented substantially parallel to the base edge of the base.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for mixing and dispensing components. The methods and apparatus of the invention are particularly advantageous to mix the components of radiopaque bone cement and inject the resulting radiopaque bone cement into skeletal structures. The apparatus of the invention comprises: (1) a sealed mixing chamber for mixing components; (2) a dispensing chamber isolated from the sealed mixing chamber; (3) a controllable portal to open a flow path between the sealed mixing chamber and the dispensing chamber so that the dispensing chamber can receive the mixed components after they are mixed; and (4) a drive mechanism associated with the dispensing chamber to force the mixed contents from the dispensing chamber.

Abstract: An optical imaging system is disclosed for selective thermal transfer of a material from a donor film to a substrate. The imaging system includes a light source assembly that is configured to emit a patterned light beam. The patterned light beam includes a plurality of discrete output light segments where the segments at most partially overlap. The imaging system further includes a light relay assembly that receives and projects the plurality of discrete output light segments onto a transfer plane so as to form a projected light segment by a substantial superposition of the plurality of discrete output light segments. When a donor film that includes a transferable material is placed proximate a substrate that lies in the transfer plane, the projected light segment is capable of inducing a transfer of the transferable material onto the substrate.
