  • Patent number: 10630632
Abstract: Systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable media can train a model to define relatedness ratings for a plurality of terms. A posted content item and a comment to the posted content item are received. A relevance rating for the comment and the posted content item is determined based on the model. The comment is ranked among a plurality of comments based on the relevance rating.

  • Patent number: 10545969
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes retrieving comments associated with a content object on a social-networking system, determining a score for each of the comments, where the score is based on one or more signals associated with the comment, the signals are related to one or more audience interactions with the comment, and each of the audience interactions includes an interaction by a respective audience member with the comment. The method further includes ordering the comments based on the respective scores, and presenting the ordered comments to a target user. Each of the audience interactions may include one or more responses to the audience interaction by an author of the comment. The signals may be based on existence of an edge between a user node representing the audience member and a user node representing an author of the comment in a social graph on the social-networking system.

  • Patent number: 10442460
Abstract: An electric power assisted steering system includes an upper column shaft connected to a steering wheel, a lower column shaft connected to road wheels, a torsion bar interconnecting the upper column shaft and the lower column shaft, and a processor that produces a torque signal indicative of torsion bar torque. An electric motor is connected to the lower column shaft, and a motor position sensor provides a motor position signal dependent on the angular position of the motor rotor that repeats after the motor rotates through an angular range. The processor determines a base motor position at start up by comparing the motor position signal with a signal from a sensor associated with the upper column shaft to determine three candidates and, during subsequent unpowered motion of the steering system rules out two candidates until only one plausible candidate for the base motor position remains.

  • Publication number: 20190281139
Abstract: Systems and techniques for deploying resources within a computing infrastructure are herein disclosed as comprising, in an implementation, executing a first deployment agent to perform a first deployment action, the first deployment agent configured to deploy a first resource to a first device; changing a deployment state of the first deployment agent responsive to performing the first deployment action; and executing a second deployment agent to perform a second deployment action, the second deployment agent configured to deploy a second resource to a second device. The second deployment agent performs the second deployment action in response to a change in a deployment state of an arbitrary deployment agent not explicitly identified within the second deployment agent. A deployment plan configured to cause the execution of the first and second deployment agents includes an identification of the first deployment agent as the arbitrary deployment agent.

  • Publication number: 20190261607
Abstract: An aquarium system includes a tank, a motion sensor, and a light source. The motion sensor is adapted to sense motion within a predetermined distance from the tank. The light source has a controllable intensity projecting light into the tank. The intensity varies responsive to motion sensed by the motion sensor. When the motion sensor senses movement, the light is on at 100% intensity. After some period of no-motion, such as about 60 seconds, the lighting slowly dims to around 20% of full brightness. When it senses movement again, the lighting slowly ramps up to 100% intensity.

  • Patent number: 10311525
Abstract: A social networking system classifies content items according to their qualities for ranking and selection of content items to present to users within, for example, a newsfeed. Low-quality content items that are unlikely to be interesting or relevant to a user may be distinguished though they may appear to be popular among users in the social networking system. The social networking system identifies within the content items one or more features that are indicators of the quality of the content items. The social networking system can use one or more classifiers to evaluate the content items based on the features, and it can compute a quality metric indicating the quality of a content item based on the result obtained from the classifiers. The quality metric can be used in the ranking and selection of a set of content items to provide to the user.
