  • Publication number: 20100284815
Abstract: A gas turbine engine blade or vane having a first platform, an airfoil, and a compound fillet extending about a region where the airfoil joins the first platform is disclosed. The compound fillet has a first conic surface and a second conic surface, with the first conic surface tangent to the airfoil and to an offset platform surface and the second conic surface tangent to the first conic surface and the first platform. The two conic surfaces are of different sizes, with different radii, and the conic surfaces can vary in size about the periphery of the joint between the airfoil and the first platform.

  • Publication number: 20100129211
Abstract: A compressor diaphragm for a gas turbine engine having improved wear capability, manufacturability, and assembly techniques is disclosed. The diaphragm includes a shiplap-type joint at an outer vane platform for connecting to adjacent vane assemblies and a clamshell-like assembly of a seal box secures and seals regions around the inner vane platform of the compressor diaphragm so as to reduce wear between the seal box and the vane assemblies. The inner platform of the diaphragm segments are fastened to each other through circumferentially-oriented fasteners at the inner diameter platform.

  • Publication number: 20100129196
Abstract: A gas turbine vane to improve vane performance by addressing known failure mechanisms. A cooling circuit to the trailing edge of a vane airfoil is fed from the outer diameter platform, which prevents failure due to an oxidized and eroded airfoil trailing edge. The gas turbine includes an outer diameter platform, a hollow airfoil and an inner diameter platform with a plurality of cooling tubes extending radially through the airfoil. The cooling tubes are open at the outer diameter end and closed with covers at the inner diameter end. The inner diameter platform is also cooled and includes a meterplate for a portion of the cooling passageway and includes an undercut to improve thermal deflections of the inner diameter platform.

  • Publication number: 20100129213
Abstract: A gas turbine engine component having shaped cooling holes that further enhances the cooling of a desired region while reducing stress levels in and around the cooling holes is disclosed. The cooling holes are generally elliptically-shaped and diffuse from a cooling fluid supply side to a discharge side and are oriented on the turbine component to reduce stress concentrations while directing the cooling fluid to a desired surface or location. The elliptical cooling holes have openings in the surface that have high points that are concentric and planar.

  • Publication number: 20100129226
Abstract: A gas turbine engine component having an axial pin stop assembly that reduces stress around a seal pin damper slot between a platform and a buttress is disclosed. The seal pin damper slot is extended to the leading edge of the buttress and an axial pin stop seal extends into the pin damper slot to limit movement of the seal pin damper while relieving stress concentration at the interface between the buttress and platform.

  • Publication number: 20100129228
Abstract: A gas turbine blade having reduced stresses around a regions where the airfoil training edge joins the platform is disclosed. The lower stresses are achieved due to an undercut region proximate the blade trailing edge being placed in the platform. The undercut region has a compound fillet radius formed from two single and tangent radii where the first radius closer to the airfoil is larger than the second radius such that a ratio of R1/R2 is approximately 2.0 to 2.5.

  • Publication number: 20080312241
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are related to novel therapeutic drugs, drug combinations, and associated methods for treating or preventing pulmonary disease, including pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary fibrosis, asthma and COPD, and heart failure, together with other pulmonary and cardiovascular diseases and their complications. More particularly, aspects of the present invention are related to the use of cicletanine and ruboxistaurin as monotherapies or in combination with other agents for treatment of disease. Cicletanine may be used as pure (+) or (?) enantiomers or as a racemic or non-racemic mixture of those enantiomers.

  • Patent number: 7281267
Abstract: A software audit system is provided in conjunction with an anti-virus system. A computer virus scan request received by the anti-virus system (16) is used to trigger an audit data generator (18) to generate audit data. The audit data generator (18) may also serve to ban certain computer programs from execution and monitor the concurrent usage of other computer programs.

  • Publication number: 20070068436
Abstract: A watercraft stabilizer assembly includes a frame comprising a plurality of frame members connected together and a plurality of floats received on the frame. At least one clamp secures the frame to a watercraft. The clamp comprises clamp members that are securable together such that the frame and a portion of the watercraft are held together between the clamp members.

  • Publication number: 20070054550
Abstract: An apparatus which provides the ability to charge or power multiple devices from multiple different power sources, and to communicate electronic data to and from one of the devices. The apparatus utilizes simple construction, requiring no active electronics, thereby reducing the cost of production and the reliability of the device. The apparatus employs a single USB connection cable with connectors on both ends and a second power-only cable and connector which is connected to the power wires of the USB cable and thereby is able to power a second portable device from a single USB port. USB master provide sufficient power for two average portable devices without additional circuitry. Moreover, restricting the data path to only one device also eliminates the need for USB hub circuitry.

  • Publication number: 20050218721
Abstract: A pretensioned spring track tensioning system provides a two stage loading of a tension roller on the interior of a vehicle drive track. The two stage loading first loads the track under a lower tension load for normal operation, but when the track is highly loaded, such as when digging, or when debris is forced between the track member and its drive sprocket or guide rollers, the compression of the lighter spring will be stopped mechanically and a second heavier compression spring will provide the tension loading. The additional spring tension under unusual conditions prevents detracking of the track and buckling of the track. A lighter tension load during normal operations reduces the loads on bearings, particularly in relation to a drive motor. The tensioning system has particular adaptability to “high” drive type tracks which have a drive sprocket elevated above the tension roller.

  • Patent number: 5939341
Abstract: There is provided a laminate of nonwoven fabrics for outdoor applications which has good resistance to ultraviolet light. The laminate has two meltblown layers sandwiched between spunbond layers to produce an SMMS laminate. The layers have a large amount of a UV stabilizer and metal oxide pigments. Such laminates are useful for car covers, awnings and canopies, etc. When the laminate is used as a car cover, it is preferred to skew the basis weights of the outer layers so that the layer against the car is significantly lighter than the other outer layer and to reduce the denier of the fibers in the layer against the car.
