  • Publication number: 20130244974
Abstract: A composition suitable for use in wound healing, particularly for reducing post-surgical adhesions, containing cross-linked derivatives of chitosan and dextran polymers. A hydrogel forms when solutions of the polymers are combined.

  • Publication number: 20130240226
Abstract: A mounting assembly (6) for mounting a bulldozer blade (2) to a vehicle (4) is disclosed. The assembly comprises a lower link (8) adapted to be mounted to a vehicle, a pair of first actuators (16, 18) adapted to be pivotably mounted to the blade, and to a pair of link plates (24, 26) via respective pin joints (28, 30), and a pair of second actuators (36, 38) adapted to adjust the position of respective pin joints (28, 30) relative to the lower link to adjust the orientation of the blade relative to the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20130055374
Abstract: A method to mitigate attack by an upstream service provider using cloud mitigation services. An edge detection device, which located at the subscriber's network edge, is able to communicate information via status messages about attacks to an upstream service provider. The service provider is then able to mitigate attacks based on the status messages. There is a feedback loop whereby the amount of dropped traffic by the service provider is added to the network traffic to keep the mitigation request open and prevent flapping. Likewise, the detection device includes time-to-engage and time-to-disengage timers to further prevent flapping.

  • Patent number: 8336388
Abstract: A method for monitoring a leg of an oilfield platform, the platform having a plurality of legs, each leg with a plurality of chords, each chord with a corresponding rack, the platform including a rack-and-pinion leg jacking system with a motor and gear system with pinions for jacking the legs up. The method, in certain aspects, including providing a load monitor with a strain sensing apparatus on a selected pinion of each rack-and-pinion system, providing a rack path differential monitoring system for monitoring rotation of the selected pinions to provide an indication of a linear displacement of the selected pinions for comparison to indicate rack path differential for racks of the legs of the platform.

  • Publication number: 20120133192
Abstract: A soft interior trim component for an aircraft cabin, for example a headboard cover for a lie-flat seat, as a soft layer of foam (24, 124) the front of which is covered by a cover (40). The component is attached to a surface to be covered by attachment means (26, 28-32;126, 129) which enable the component to be easily removed for replacement and/or cleaning. The attachment may comprise a double-sided adhesive tape (26;126) and a series of fasteners (28-32).

  • Publication number: 20120015341
Abstract: A system includes an education module (171) that is operable with, includes, or is operable to control three-dimensional figure generation software (170). The education module (171) is configured to present an educational three-dimensional object (181) on a display (132) upon detecting an educational flash card (150) being disposed before a camera (130) that is operable with the education module (171). The educational three-dimensional object (181) can correspond to a visible graphic (151) disposed on the educational flash card (150) to provide an educational experience to a student.

  • Patent number: 8061007
Abstract: A fixed needle syringe has a syringe barrel with its distal portion modified to accept a needle protective housing. In particular, the distal portion is formed with the a groove dimensioned to accept a collar that is attached to the housing. The inside surface of the collar is provided with a number of flanges that fit within the groove formed at the distal portion of the syringe barrel of the fixed needle syringe. Protrusions are provided at the inside surface of the collar to frictionally act against the syringe barrel, so that the needle protective housing does not freely rotate, but is rotatable relative to the syringe barrel by the application of a predetermined torque to either the collar or the housing attached thereto. An internal hook is provided in the housing to grasp the needle of the syringe, when the housing is pivoted to cover the needle extending from the needle hub of the syringe.
