  • Publication number: 20090221866
Abstract: A manufacturing apparatus for producing products results in solid waste and organic waste disposed in an air stream. The organic waste is subject to oxidation by a thermal oxidizer receiving the air stream from the manufacturing apparatus for oxidizing the organic waste. The thermal oxidizer includes a clean air outlet for venting the oxidized air stream to the atmosphere. A gasifier receives solid waste from the manufacturing apparatus for gasifying the solid waste and producing synthetic gas. The synthetic gas is introduced to the thermal oxidizer for providing additional thermal energy to the thermal oxidizer reducing the amount of fossil fuel required to provide thermal energy to the thermal oxidizer that is necessary for oxidizing the organic waste disposed in said air stream.

  • Publication number: 20090103889
Abstract: A system generates automatically a highlight summary of a performance, from signals representing a captured version of the performance. The system includes a user operated event logging processor and an ingestion processor. The user operated event logging processor is operable to log event codes, each of which is selected by the user from a set of event codes. Each of the event codes in the set of event codes represents a predetermined event which may occur in the performance, the event codes being selected by the user when an event corresponding to the event code occurs during an observed performance. The ingestion processor is operable to receive the event codes and to receive signals produced by capturing a representation of the performance.

  • Publication number: 20090066784
Abstract: An image processing apparatus and method generate a three dimensional representation of a scene which includes a plurality of objects disposed on a plane. The three dimensional representation is generated from one or more video images of the scene, which include the objects on the plane produced from a view of the scene by a video camera. The method comprises processing the captured video images so as to extract one or more image features from each object, comparing the one or more image features with sample image features from a predetermined set of possible example objects which the video images may contain, and identifying the objects from the comparison of the image features with the stored image features of the possible example objects. The method also includes generating object path data, which includes object identification data for each object which identifies the respective object; and provides a position of the object on the plane in the video images with respect to time.

  • Publication number: 20070255420
Abstract: A hip joint prosthesis that has a strap plate and a hollow, tapered femoral neck subassembly. The femoral neck includes a flanged force plate that radiates from a head stem base and abuts the femur. Several longitudinal ridges and/or an annular recess or other surface treatment at the head stem base facilitates retention in the femur. Shaped surfaces of a femoral neck at the strap plate interlock in non-rotational engagement with a bore of the head stem base. A tapered stem projects from the force plate and supports a ball head. The strap plate includes laterally and longitudinally displaced elongated fastener holes and stress relieving recesses and/or channels. Fasteners anchor the strap plate to the femoral shaft. A shouldered bolt mounts through the femoral neck to engage the ball head base and draw the ball head base and ball head toward the strap plate and contain the prosthesis to the femur.
