Abstract: A recloseable package is provided having a recloseable fastener assembly positioned on an inside surface of a front wall of the package. An openable region defined by the front wall of the package provides access to the recloseable fastener assembly and the package contents. The openable region typically comprises perforations or scoring. In order to facilitate such access during initial opening of the package by separation of profile strips of the fastener assembly, an access opening defined by the front wall of the package is provided at the openable region. At least one of the profile strips of the fastener assembly can be provided with a stand-off projection, which can be accessed through openable region. The projection desirably acts to separate the profile strips of the fastener assembly, to facilitate gripping and manipulation of the fastener assembly to facilitate its convenient use.

In the illustrated embodiment, the top sleeve portion includes a peel seal positioned above the recloseable fastener. This seal desirably acts to close the two layers of the top sleeve portion at the top of the package for a neat and aesthetically pleasing appearance. The top sleeve portion can also include a frangible region, and at least one grip strip on the interior of the top sleeve portion.
