Publication number: 20230081411Abstract: A recloseable package is provided having a recloseable fastener assembly positioned on an inside surface of a front wall of the package. An openable region defined by the front wall of the package provides access to the recloseable fastener assembly and the package contents. The openable region typically comprises perforations or scoring. In order to facilitate such access during initial opening of the package by separation of profile strips of the fastener assembly, an access opening defined by the front wall of the package is provided at the openable region. At least one of the profile strips of the fastener assembly can be provided with a stand-off projection, which can be accessed through openable region. The projection desirably acts to separate the profile strips of the fastener assembly, to facilitate gripping and manipulation of the fastener assembly to facilitate its convenient use.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 14, 2022Publication date: March 16, 2023Inventor: James W. Patent number: 11034119Abstract: A bottom-gusseted package comprising a package body, and a bottom gusset positioned transversely of a longitudinal axis of the package body. Formation of the bottom-gusseted package is effected by positioning individual sleeves transversely of the longitudinal axis of a flexible web which forms the package body. During package formation, the flexible web is folded and cut to form individual packages, with each individual sleeve positioned to form a bottom gusset in a respective package. Attendant to folding of the flexible web, each gusset-forming sleeve is folded. Optionally, the individual sleeve portions can be configured such that when the flexible web is cut to form individual packages, each individual sleeve is cut to form a bottom gusset in one package, and a top sleeve portion in an adjacent package.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 2016Date of Patent: June 15, 2021Assignee: Innoflex IncorporatedInventor: James W. Publication number: 20200165047Abstract: A bottom-gusseted package is disclosed which includes a bottom gusset positioned transversely of a longitudinal axis of the package, and a top sleeve portion including a recloseable fastener provided at the top of the package. In the illustrated embodiment, the top sleeve portion includes a peel seal positioned above the recloseable fastener. This seal desirably acts to close the two layers of the top sleeve portion at the top of the package for a neat and aesthetically pleasing appearance. The top sleeve portion can also include a frangible region, and at least one grip strip on the interior of the top sleeve portion. The configuration of the package, and its method of formation, permit use with associated form, fill, and seal equipment.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 11, 2018Publication date: May 28, 2020Inventor: James W. Publication number: 20190241290Abstract: A bottom-gusseted package comprises a package body, and a bottom gusset positioned transversely of a longitudinal axis of the package body. Formation of the bottom-gusseted package is effected by positioning individual sleeves transversely of the longitudinal axis of a flexible web which forms the package body. During package formation, the flexible web is cut to form individual packages, with each individual sleeve positioned to form a bottom gusset in a respective package. Cooperating heat-sealing jaws, including cooperating U-shaped sealing surfaces, act to integrate and seal each individual sleeve with the flexible web to form the bottom gusset of each package, with the heat-sealing jaws preferably configured to include cooperating top sealing surfaces for simultaneously forming a top seal in an adjacent one of the packages.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 16, 2019Publication date: August 8, 2019Inventors: James W. Yeager, John F. Hogan
