  • Publication number: 20220052763
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to a photonic integrated circuit (PIC) having a resistivity-engineered substrate to suppress radio-frequency (RF) common-mode signals. In some embodiments, a semiconductor substrate is provided that comprises two portions having different levels of resistivity to provide both suppression of common mode signals, and reduction of RF absorption loss for non-common mode RF signals. In such embodiments, a bottom portion of the semiconductor substrate has a low resistivity to suppress common mode via RF absorption, while a top portion of the semiconductor substrate that is adjacent to conductors in the IC has a high resistivity to reduce RF loss.

  • Patent number: 11225142
Abstract: A method for controlling the air-conditioning function of a transportation vehicle seat wherein a value of an air-conditioning parameter is set by an operating element which is moved from a null position in two opposite directions. The air-conditioning parameter controls the distribution of an air-conditioning function in different regions along a first direction indicated by the geometry of the transportation vehicle seat. The separate regions include at least one first and second region. A uniform distribution of the air-conditioning function is produced in the regions in the null position of the operating element. When the operating element is moved in one direction of the two opposite directions, the value of the air-conditioning parameter for at least one of the first and second regions remains constant and is changed for at least the other of the first and second regions. Also disclosed is a device for carrying out the method.

  • Publication number: 20210351922
Abstract: A method for securing an integrated circuit chip includes obtaining a first value from a first storage area in the chip, obtaining a second value from a second storage area in the chip, generating a third value based on the first value and the second value, and converting a first opcode command obfuscated as a second opcode command into a non-obfuscated form of the first opcode command based on the third value. The first value corresponds to a physically unclonable function (PUF) of the chip. The second value is a key including information indicating a type of obfuscation performed to obfuscate the first opcode command as the second opcode command. The third value may be an inversion flag indicating a type of obfuscation performed to obfuscate the first opcode command as the second opcode command.

  • Patent number: 11171793
Abstract: A method and data processing system is provided for detecting an attack on a physically unclonable function (PUF). In the method, a first list of PUF responses to challenges is produced during production testing of an integrated circuit comprising the PUF. The first list is stored in a memory on the integrated circuit. A second list of PUF responses to the challenges is produced during normal operation of the integrated circuit in the field. The second list is compared to the first list. A difference between entries of the first and second lists computed. If the difference is greater than a threshold difference, then an indication of a hardware trojan is generated. The method may also include monitoring a series of challenges for an indication of a non-random pattern in the series. Detection of a non-random pattern may indicate a modeling attack.

  • Publication number: 20210331151
Abstract: A sample insertion system (10) comprises a channel (12), a sealing element (16) and a vacuum device (18). The channel (12) has a port (14) connectable to a chamber such as a cryostat. The vacuum device (18) may decrease a pressure in the channel (12). The sealing element (16) is arranged in the channel (12) and seals off a volume (V) from the channel. The sealing element (16) comprises a carrier member to carry a sample. The sealing element (16) is configured to move the carrier member towards the port (14) in response to the pressure in the channel (12) decreasing below a pressure in the volume (V) sealed-off by the sealing element (16). This may help reducing an access time when inserting the sample into the chamber.
