  • Patent number: 8144638
Abstract: A system and a method thereof for dynamically adjusting sleep/awake intervals of a wireless network device are provided. The system has at least one base station (BS) and at least one wireless network device. The system performs the method to dynamically adjust the sleep/awake intervals by properly delaying and combining delivery of data such that the wireless network device is turned into a sleep mode after finishing data delivery within an adjusted period. Thereby, the number of awake frames of a mobile subscriber station (MSS) can be reduced without sacrificing the quality of service (QoS).

  • Patent number: 7224005
Abstract: A material made by arranging layers of gallium-arsenide-antimonide (GaAsxSb1-x, 0.0?x?1.0) and/or indium-gallium-arsenic-nitride (InyGa1-yAszN1-z, 0.0?y, z?1.0) in a specific order is used to form the transistor base of a heterojunction bipolar transistor. By controlling the compositions of the materials indium-gallium-arsenic-nitride and gallium-arsenide-antimonide, and by changing the thickness and order of the layers, the new material would possess a specific energy gap, which in turn determines the base-emitter turn-on voltage of the heterojunction bipolar transistor.

  • Publication number: 20070036074
Abstract: A packet transmission method for WLAN, a controlling method for data transmitting node of WLAN and a controlling method for data receiving node of WLAN are provided. In the packet transmission method, the data transmitting node sends a transmitting request signal. When the receiving node receives the transmitting request signal and cannot immediately perform a transmitting operation defined by the transmitting request signal, a stop-transmitting signal is sent to the transmitting node. After sending the stop-transmitting signal, the receiving node outputs a start-to-transmit signal to the transmitting node when the transmitting operation can be performed. The transmitting node sends the data after receiving the start-to-transmit signal.

  • Publication number: 20070017403
Abstract: A method of forming a printing pin includes providing a printing pin having an exterior surface and an interior surface that defines a lumen or capillary tract. The pin is treated to render the exterior and interior surfaces hydrophilic. The lumen or capillary tract is filled with a blocking material. The exterior surface of the pin is coated with a hydrophobic material. The blocking material is then removed. The method produces a pin with selective wetting properties. The modified pins reduce solution or reagents use because no excess liquid is picked up on the exterior surface during loading. As a result, no pre-printing operation is needed to remove this excess liquid. Because no pre-printing operation is needed, the pins produce shorter printing times. In addition, due to improved control of liquid loading volume, it is possible to obtain smaller spots as well as more spots in a given run.

  • Patent number: 6833111
Abstract: A multiple analyte assaying device includes a casing having a pocket portion adapted to capture or contain a predetermined volume of fluid specimen to be assayed. Disposed within the casing is a sample receiving pad and one or more reagent test strips. The pocket portion of the casing includes a feed element having multiple feed inlets, or alternatively, a single feed slot. The feed element provides pressure against the sample receiving pad. The pressure against the pad and a small size of the inlet or inlets are effective in controlling a rate of fluid release of the specimen to the sample receiving pad. The casing includes observation windows or alternatively a clear plastic view area for enabling observation of reagent zones of the test strips. The device is structured and adapted to enable a technician to capture the appropriate volume of fluid specimen in the pocket portion by submerging or dipping a portion of the device into a fluid-filled collection container for a brief period of time.

  • Patent number: 5770458
Abstract: Binding assays are effected by introducing a specific binding reagent through a top absorbant membrane in parallel contact with a main absorbant membrane. By providing a parallel flow of liquid in the two membranes, and by controlling the flow of the diluted reagent from the top absorbant membrane into the main absorbant membrane, a controlled, uniform dilution of the reagent is obtained, leading to more accurate assay results.

  • Patent number: 4788379
Abstract: The process relates to the recovering of essentially pure acetylene from the gaseous out-put stream from a coal to acetylene conversion process. A plasma arc generator or other high energy type reactor can be used for the conversion to coal. The gaseous out-put stream is initially treated in an acid gas removal stage by absorbing HCN and H.sub.2 S in an organic solvent such as N-methyl pyrrolidone and scrubbing with a caustic agent such as NaOH to remove CO.sub.2. In a second stage, the gaseous out-put stream is scrubbed with the organic solvent to provide a sweet gas treatment and remove essentially pure acetylene as a product. In a third stage, the second stage gases are first hydrogenated, then desulfurized and then methanated. The out-put from the third stage is recycled to the coal to acetylene conversion process. In a fourth stage, the organic solvent from said second stage is refined and recycled to the first stage and/or second stage.
