Abstract: Embodiments are directed to speakers and circuits that reflect sound off a wall surface (114) to a listening location at a distance from a speaker. The reflected sound (103) provides direct audio cues to reproduce audio objects that have direct audio components without the need for direct firing speakers. The speaker comprises sideward firing drivers (108) to reflect sound off of the wall surface (114) and represents a virtual direct speaker (116). A virtual direct filter is applied to the sideward-firing driver signal to improve the perception of direct audio transmitted by the sideward firing speaker (108) to provide optimum reproduction of the reflected sound. The virtual direct filter may be incorporated as part of a crossover circuit that separates the full band and sends high frequency sound to the sideward-firing driver (108).

In some embodiments, the systems and methods identify and provide a suggested survey topic—with a corresponding option to create an electronic survey—based on user input. In some embodiments, the systems and methods identify and provide one or more suggested electronic survey questions based on user input. In such embodiments, the systems and methods provide, for example, components of suggested electronic survey questions, previously composed and benchmarking electronic survey questions, or suggested revisions to electronic survey questions. In addition, the systems and methods can provide entire premade electronic surveys based on receiving user input from a survey administrator.

Abstract: In one embodiment the present invention includes a display system for displaying video. The display system includes a backlight layer and an LCD layer. The display system controls the backlight layer and the LCD layer to emulate a cathode ray tube response. This emulation may be accomplished by applying a gamma function to a gamma corrected input signal. In this manner, the effects resulting from the “crushed blacks” phenomenon may be reduced.

Abstract: A system and method for latching a boom of a vehicle. A boom with a plurality of wings is provided. The wings are hinged together and a linear actuator is provided to extend and fold the wings. When the wings are extended, a latching assembly secures the boom in the extended position. A retainer on one of the wings receives a catch on another of the wings. A pin then extends through the catch to retain the catch and maintain the boom in the extended position. When it is desired to fold the boom, the pin is retracted and the linear actuator folds the wings.

Abstract: Techniques and tools are described for producing time-series data using faceted search based on document creation time. For example, index information can be created from events (e.g., by adding meta-data and indexing the events as documents). In addition, index information can be created that maps document creation time to time ranges. Search queries can then be executed (e.g., comprising ad-hoc filters to filter on the meta-data), and search results can be faceted on the time ranges to produce time-series data. The time-series data can be graphed to display trends of activity (e.g., trends of events based on user activity).
