  • Publication number: 20180314595
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for memory repair for a memory device are described. An example apparatus includes: a data input/output circuit that provides data via a plurality of data signal lines; memory cell arrays; an ECC/Parity redundancy array; and a redundancy circuit coupled to the plurality of data signal lines. The redundancy circuit includes an error correction block that generates error correction information based on the data and provides the error correction information to the ECC/Parity redundancy array. If during test it is determined that a failure is not repairable by standard redundancy including error correction code, the error correction parity array is not needed and can be redirected by a block repair circuit. The error correction circuit can now have its functionality changed to allow the error correction array to become a block repair.

  • Publication number: 20180315417
Abstract: The disclosed system continuously refines a model used by an Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) system to enable fast and accurate transcriptions of detected speech activity. The ASR system analyzes speech activity to generate text transcriptions and associated metrics (such as minimum Bayes risk and/or perplexity) that correspond to the quality of or confidence in each generated transcription. The system employs a filtering process to select certain text transcriptions based in part on one or more associated quality metrics. In addition, the system corrects for known systemic errors within the ASR system and provides a mechanism for manual review and correction of transcriptions. The system selects a subset of transcriptions based on factors including confidence score, and uses the selected subset of transcriptions to re-train the ASR model. By continuously retraining the ASR model, the system is able to provide ever faster and more accurate text transcriptions of detected speech activity.

  • Publication number: 20180310880
Abstract: Optical measurement of physiological parameters with wearable devices often includes measuring signals in the presence of significant noise sources. These noise sources include, but are not limited to, noise associated with: variable optical coupling to skin or tissue, variations in tissue optical properties with time due to changes in humidity, temperature, hydration, variations in tissue optical properties between individuals, variable coupling of ambient light sources into detectors, and instrument and detector noise, including electrical noise, radio frequency or magnetic interference, or noise caused by mechanical movement of the detector or its components. The present disclosure includes devices and methods configured to produce representations of the raw data in which noise, broadly defined, is separated from the data of interest. • Publication number: 20180316569
Abstract: A method for distributed monitoring of storage units of a dispersed storage network (DSN) including a plurality of sets of storage units. A managing unit of the DSN obtains configuration information relating to the DSN storage resources and selects a target storage unit to be monitored. The managing unit also determines a number of other storage units to be used in monitoring the target storage unit. Selection of the monitoring storage units includes determining, for each of a plurality of storage units of the DSN, an estimated failure correlation level with the target storage unit. Based at least in part on this information, the determined number of storage units are selected and assigned to monitor the target storage unit. • Publication number: 20180314925
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method for sending notifications includes accessing a data set, with each data being associated with a first user and including (1) a first action, first state, and first reward that are associated with a first time period, and (2) a second action and second state that are associated with a second time period. The data set may be used to train a recurrent machine-learning model configured to take as inputs a state and action associated with a user and a time period, and predict a cumulative reward over multiple time periods. The cumulative reward may be recurrently defined based on an application of the recurrent machine-learning model to the user's subsequent state and action. The trained model may be used to predict whether sending a notification to a target user is justified based on a predicted cumulative reward.
