  • Patent number: 9557896
Abstract: An interstitial creator identifies a playlist of media items, the playlist comprising pointers to the media items. The interstitial creator receives a request to insert an interstitial at a location in the playlist, wherein the location is after a first media item and before a second media item. In response to the request, the interstitial creator provides an interstitial creation interface and receives, through the interstitial creation interface, interstitial configuration parameters. The interstitial creator creates the interstitial based on the received interstitial configuration parameters and inserts a pointer to the interstitial into the playlist at the location.

  • Patent number: 9559727
Abstract: Row decoding is performed on row codewords in an array in order to produce a row decoded array that includes row decoded column codewords. Column decoding is performed on the row decoded column codewords in order to produce a row and column decoded array that includes row and column decoded row codewords and row and column decoded column codewords. The number of row and column decoded row codewords that are not in a row codebook is determined and the number of row and column decoded column codewords that are not in a column codebook are determined. If the number not in the row codebook equals 0 and the number not in the column codebook equals 1, at least a data portion of the row and column decoded array is output.

  • Patent number: 9560252
Abstract: Various embodiments include a camera system. The camera system can receive a command to photograph an environment utilizing a camera. The camera system can identify a plurality of flash settings for a flash system of the camera. The camera system can drive the flash system in a sequence of flashes respectively corresponding to the plurality of flash settings. The camera system can then capture consecutive images utilizing the camera. The capturing of the consecutive images can be synchronized against the sequence of flashes such that a device can later combine the consecutive images to generate a composite image that represents a virtual photograph of the environment.

  • Patent number: 9554715
Abstract: In one embodiment, ECG data collected during the long-term monitoring are compressed through a two-step compression algorithm executed by an electrocardiography monitor. Minimum amplitude signals may become indistinguishable from noise if overly inclusive encoding is employed in which voltage ranges are set too wide. The resulting ECG signal will appear “choppy” and uneven with an abrupt slope. The encoding used in the first stage of compression can be dynamically rescaled on-the-fly when the granularity of the encoding is too coarse. In a further embodiment, offloaded ECG signals are automatically gained as appropriate on a recording-by-recording basis to preserve the amplitude relationship between the signals. Raw decompressed ECG signals are filtered for noise content and any gaps in the signals are bridged. An appropriate signal gain is determined based on a statistical evaluation of peak-to-peak voltage (or other indicator) to land as many ECG waveforms within a desired range of display.

  • Patent number: 9555326
Abstract: An interactive computer game is described which works in conjunction with a number of physical modules that a user can connect together in different ways to form a coherent physical whole object. The game receives data from the object via a wireless link, the data identifying at least which modules form part of the object and updates game play based on the data received. At some point within the game play, the game presents an objective or goal to the user which the user can only achieve by interacting with the physical object formed from the modules. In an embodiment, this interaction comprises re-arranging the modules or swapping modules to form an object with a different visual appearance, moving all or part of the object and/or interacting with a sensor on a module in the object. The game may receive further data from the object during the user interaction.

  • Patent number: 9556873
Abstract: A centrifugal pump system having an impeller rotating with first and second magnetic structures on opposite surfaces. A levitation magnetic structure is disposed at a first end of a pump housing having a levitating magnetic field for axially attracting the first magnetic structure. A multiphase magnetic stator at a second end of the pump housing generates a rotating magnetic field for axially and rotationally attracting the second magnetic structure. A commutator circuit provides a plurality of phase voltages to the stator. A sensing circuit determines respective phase currents. A controller calculates successive commanded values for the phase voltages during a running state in response to a desired impeller speed and an actual impeller phase. The controller has a startup interval during which the commanded values of the phase voltages are determined in response to a pseudo impeller phase and in response to a ramping gain factor.

  • Patent number: 9555869
Abstract: A method for setting an engine speed of an internal combustion engine in a marine propulsion device of a marine propulsion system to an engine speed setpoint includes determining the engine speed setpoint based on an operator demand and predicting a position of a throttle valve that is needed to achieve the engine speed setpoint. The method also includes determining a feed forward signal that will move the throttle valve to the predicted position, and after moving the throttle valve to the predicted position, adjusting the engine speed with a feedback controller so as to obtain the engine speed setpoint. An operating state of the marine propulsion system is also determined. Depending on the operating state, the method may include determining limits on an authority of the feedback controller to adjust the engine speed and/or determining whether the operator demand should be modified prior to determining the engine speed setpoint.
