  • Publication number: 20150302440
Abstract: There is disclosed a cloud solutions generator including a back-end processor running asynchronously from the front-end processor. In an embodiment, pricing and services are retrieved from a service provider and normalized into a normalized provider metrics for comparing multiple service providers. One or more benchmarking tests characterize the performance of at least one service provider, storing benchmarking metrics as a result. A user enters business-level user requirements for running a user application having a user application performance and specifying a user cloud configuration of the cloud resources. Business-level user requirements are normalized into normalized user requirements for mapping the normalized provider metrics to the business-level user requirements. A solutions calculator scales the normalized provider metrics by the benchmarking metrics to calculate a potential configuration performance.

  • Publication number: 20150302304
Abstract: There is disclosed a computer-implemented cloud computing scoring system. In an embodiment, a parser receives unstructured sentiment data commenting on a scored service. The parser identifies in the unstructured sentiment data a service category of the scored service. The parser selects from the unstructured sentiment data text relating to the service category and matching one or more opinionative words and phrases listed in a keyword dictionary, thereby producing a structured comment associated with the service category. The structured comment is classified as positive or negative according to a list of exemplary sentiment data sets contained in a learning seed file. The exemplary sentiment data sets are manually assigned a positive or a negative polarity. The learning seed file is configured for enhancement by the ongoing addition of structured sentiment data, the structured sentiment data commenting on the scored service and having a polarity classification.

  • Publication number: 20150287196
Abstract: A system and method for calibrating a camera includes an energy source and a camera to be calibrated, with at least one of the energy source and the camera being mounted on a mechanical actuator so that it is movable relative to the other. A processor is connected to the energy source, the mechanical actuator and the camera and is programmed to control the mechanical actuator to move at least one of the energy source and the camera relative to the other through a plurality of discrete points on a calibration target pattern. The processor further, at each of the discrete points, controls the camera to take a digital image and perform a lens distortion characterisation on each image. A focal length of the camera is determined including any lens connected to the camera and an extrinsic camera position for each image is then determined.

  • Patent number: 8995987
Abstract: Systems, methods, and software for operating a wireless communication system are provided herein. In one example, a method of operating a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes transferring, for delivery to user devices, overhead signaling for a non-long term evolution (LTE) communication protocol over an LTE signaling pathway. The method also includes identifying control channel congestion for wireless communications exchanged with the user devices over a LTE signaling pathway. The method also includes determining when the control channel congestion exceeds a congestion threshold, and responsively transferring the overhead signaling for the non-LTE communication protocol using a non-LTE signaling pathway to ones of the user devices having power headrooms exceeding a headroom threshold.

  • Patent number: 8948802
Abstract: A method of operating a wireless communication device comprises storing initial data in a first wireless channel table that associates a geographic identifier, a network availability signal, and a first wireless communication channel. New data is received that associates the geographic identifier, the network availability signal, and a second wireless communication channel. The initial data is compared to the new data to determine that the first wireless communication channel in the initial data changed to the second wireless communication channel associated in the new data. A conditional statement is generated that directs the wireless communication device to utilize the first wireless communication channel for the geographic identifier if a performance metric of the second wireless communication channel fails to meet a performance standard.

  • Publication number: 20140184476
Abstract: A gun scope includes a display, an optical sensor to capture video data, a processor coupled to the display and the optical sensor, and a memory accessible to the processor. The memory is configured to store a heads up display module that, when executed, causes the processor to generate a heads up display (HUD) including a reticle and other data corresponding to an operating state of the gun scope. The HUD defines an arrangement of the other data. The processor provides the video data and the HUD to the display.

  • Patent number: 8625537
Abstract: Media and systems for controlling roaming of a mobile device on a wireless-communications network are described. Wireless-communications systems along a coverage area border are designated as roaming border systems. A parameter value is communicated from wireless-communications systems of a home network to a mobile device. The parameter takes on a value indicating whether a mobile device is permitted to initiate a connection to a roaming network. A mobile device is restricted to use of home-network systems when a first parameter value is received. The mobile device is permitted to use home-network and roaming-network systems when a second parameter value is received. Thus, the mobile device can only roam when the second parameter value has been communicated thereto.

  • Publication number: 20130338020
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to nucleic acid molecules in respect of which changes to DNA methylation levels are indicative of the onset or predisposition to the onset of a neoplasm. More particularly, the present invention is directed to nucleic acid molecules in respect of which changes to DNA methylation levels are indicative of the onset and/or progression of a large intestine neoplasm, such as an adenoma or adenocarcinoma. The DNA methylation status of the present invention is useful in a range of applications including, but not limited to, those relating to the diagnosis and/or monitoring of colorectal neoplasms, such as colorectal adenocarcinomas. Accordingly, in a related aspect the present invention is directed to a method of screening for the onset, predisposition to the onset and/or progression of a neoplasm by screening for modulation in DNA methylation of one or more nucleic acid molecules.
