    Abstract: A system and method for conditioning water is provided. A fluid flow sensor senses a flow of untreated discharge water passing through a water discharge drain line. The sensor generates one of a first sensor signal indicating a flow of the untreated discharge water and a second sensor signal indicating an absence of the flow of the untreated discharge water. A water conditioning controller transmits a first actuation signal to a conditioning agent pump when the first sensor signal is received, wherein a portion of a conditioning agent residing in a conditioning agent reservoir is pumped into the water discharge drain line to mix with the flow of untreated discharge water, and transmits a second actuation signal to the conditioning agent pump when the second sensor signal is received so that the portion of the conditioning agent is not pumped from the conditioning agent reservoir.

    Abstract: In a fossil fuel waste incineration or plasma gasification process, waste heat generated by combustion of waste is captured by a heat transfer fluid and conveyed to an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) for energy recovery. In the case of a fossil fuel-fired waste incineration system, the heat transfer fluid captures waste heat from a double-walled combustion chamber, a heat exchanger being used to cool the hot process exhaust (gas cooler). In the case of a plasma waste gasification system, the heat transfer fluid captures waste heat from a plasma torch, a gasification chamber and combustion chamber cooling jackets as well as any other high-temperature components requiring cooling, and then a heat exchanger used to cool the hot process exhaust (gas cooler). The heat exchanger may take on several configurations, including plate or shell and tube configurations.

A portable device is operated by a user near the stopped AV. A control subsystem receives a communication from the portable device that includes information regarding whether a second portion of the zone around the AV is free of obstructions. The control subsystem receives AV sensor data from the at least one vehicle sensor. The control subsystem determines whether the first portion of the zone free of obstructions and whether the second portion of the zone is free of obstructions. If that both the first and second portions of the zone around the stopped AV are free of obstructions, the stopped AV is allowed to begin moving.
