Publication number: 20130204812Abstract: A method for computer-aided closed and/or open-loop control of a technical system is provided. A first value of an output quantity is predicted on a data-based model at a current point in time. A second value of the output quantity is determined from an analytical model. The state of the technical system at the current point is assigned a confidence score in the correctness of prediction of the data-based model. A third value of the output quantity is determined from the first and second value as a function of the confidence score for controlling the technical system. A suitable value for the output quantity can be derived from the analytical model even for regions of the technical system in which the quality of prediction of the data-based model is low because of a small set of training data. The technical systems can be turbines, such as gas turbines.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 12, 2010Publication date: August 8, 2013Inventors: Volkmar Sterzing, Steffen Udluft, Jatinder Singh, Hans-Gerd Brummel, Glenn E. Patent number: 7269953Abstract: A method of controlling a gas turbine system (10) may include controlling an inlet guide vane position (98) to maintain a turbine (24) exhaust temperature at a corrected value that is a function of a compressor (12) inlet temperature and a turbine (24) normalized load. The method may include selecting the minimum value (138) of a part load tunable value, a part load maximum value and a fixed maximum value of a turbine (24) exhaust temperature for the corrected value. A corrected value setpoint may be determined (94) for the gas turbine system (10) operating at a part load condition where at least one of a fuel flow rate and the inlet guide vane position is controlled (98) so the corrected value does not exceed the corrected value setpoint. The corrected value may prevent a turbine (24) engine from exceeding its firing temperature during operation and ensure the engine operates within combustor dynamics and emissions limits.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 2004Date of Patent: September 18, 2007Assignee: Siemens Power Generation, Inc.Inventors: Satish Gadde, Christopher Humphrey, Stefan Schneider, Fadi Tadros, Jatinder Singh

Publication number: 20070101724Abstract: A method of controlling fuel flow to a combustor (18) of a gas turbine engine (10) during startup of the engine includes determining a relationship between Cv and valve position for a flow control valve (e.g., 24) in a fuel supply (20) to the combustor as a function of at least one real time parameter of fuel (30) in the fuel supply. The method also includes determining a value of the at least one parameter of the fuel before initiating a flow of the fuel to the combustor, and then calculating a first actual Cv value for the flow control valve at a target flow rate using the determined value of the parameter. The method then includes positioning the flow control valve to a first position corresponding to the actual Cv value based upon the determined relationship between Cv and valve position, and initiating the flow of fuel to the combustor through the flow control valve.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 10, 2005Publication date: May 10, 2007Inventors: Satish Gadde, Damien Teehan, Jatinder Singh, Gary Hildebrandt, Danny Kozachuk, Joseph Kollar

Patent number: 7121389Abstract: The invention relates to an improved system for supplying filtered oil to wet brakes of the tractor without additional/auxiliary pump. The system comprises of a suitably sized connection provided on the drain line of the Hydraulic system, which supplies required quantity of filtered oil to the wet brakes through a passage with a line pressure of 2-3 kg/cm2. This positively ensures the oil supply and circulation of oil for heat removal from wet brakes. A hollow bush is so sized and located on the brake housing so as to maintain the required level of oil in the brake housing and to drain the excess oil in the transmission housing.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2003Date of Patent: October 17, 2006Assignee: Punjab Tractors LimitedInventors: Ram Kumar Manrao, Jatinder Singh Chawla

Patent number: 7023941Abstract: An apparatus and method for jointly equalizing a return to zero (RZ) signal and detecting timing errors in the RZ signal, using values or indices from equalizer taps, including a set reference tap that does not shift. A timing error detector detects a timing error based on a group delay measured from the equalizer tap information, and then adjustment circuitry modifies samples of the received RZ signal prior to their equalization to offset that timing error. Methods of modifying the samples to offset the timing error include adjusting the timing of the sampler, or adjusting the sampled data using intermediate, interpolated samples generated by a timing interpolation filter.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 2003Date of Patent: April 4, 2006Assignee: PMC-Sierra, Inc.Inventors: Claudio Gustavo Rey, Jonathan Robert Gay, William Michael Lye, Ognjen Katic, Terence K.
