Publication number: 20230312107Abstract: A passenger seat for an aircraft is described. The passenger seat is configurable between an upright position and a bed position. The upright position may be provided for taxi, take-off and landing events. The bed position, also referred to as a lie-flat position, is provided for long-haul travel in comfort. The passenger seat includes a seat pan, a seatback, and an armrest. The seat pan, the seatback, and the armrest form a kinematic chain by a number of pivot joints. The passenger seat also includes a linkage connecting the seat pan and the armrest. By the linkage, the armrest follows a motion of the seat pan when the passenger seat is reconfigured.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 25, 2022Publication date: October 5, 2023Inventor: Javier Valdes de la Garza

Publication number: 20190152606Abstract: An aircraft passenger seat adapted for maintaining a seated passenger in a recline position in the seat during TTOL of a passenger aircraft. The seat includes a seat carriage mounted for fore and aft translating movement relative to a deck of the aircraft, with a seat pan base mounted on the seat carriage for translating movement with the seat carriage. A seat pan is mounted for articulating movement relative to the seat pan base about a first pivot positioned on the seat pan base. A seat back is mounted for articulating movement about a second pivot positioned on the seat pan base proximate the first pivot on the seat pan base. The seat pan and the seat back are positioned for independent pivotal adjustment within a predetermined range of motion to permit the seat pan and seat back to move to a zero gravity recline position with the passenger's knees positioned above the passenger's hip region, providing resistance to forward movement of the passenger in the seat during TTOL.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 20, 2017Publication date: May 23, 2019Inventors: Javier Valdes De La Garza, Daniel I.
