Abstract: A digital TV including a receiving part for receiving a broadcasting signal and broadcasting information, a video processing module and an audio processing module for reproducing video and audio corresponding to the broadcasting signal, respectively, a power source for supplying power, and a controller for determining whether a video signal is included in the broadcasting signal based on the broadcasting information and controlling the power source to interrupt the supply of power to the video processing module if the video signal is not included in the broadcasting signal is provided. The present invention provides a digital TV, which is capable of preventing unnecessary power consumption by interrupting the supply of power to a video processing module during playback of an audio broadcasting, and a control method thereof.

Abstract: A broadcasting signal receiver and a method of controlling the broadcasting signal receiver having a user selection unit, the method including: determining whether a plurality of channels that correspond to a selected channel exist; determining whether the plurality of channels have the same contents if it is determined that the plurality of channels exist; selecting a first channel among the plurality of channels according to a priority if it is determined that the plurality of channels have the same contents; and determining whether the first channel provides a corresponding signal; and selecting a second channel among the plurality of channels according to the priority if it is determined that the first channel does not provide the corresponding signal.

Abstract: A display device for displaying a program guide and a method thereof are provided. The display device includes: a tuner to select a first channel to receive a broadcasting signal; a signal processing unit to extract time information and EPG information from the broadcasting signal; a central processing unit to compute a time difference between a standard time and the extracted time information, and to compensate the extracted time information and EPG information using the time difference; and an output unit to display the compensated EPG information and time information.

Abstract: A device for updating EPG information in a digital TV receiver having a first tuner and a second tuner while viewing a channel selected by the first tuner, including first and second IF modules each converting respective IF signals output from the first and second tuners depending upon the channel selections into respective baseband signals, and first and second channel decoders each converting respective output signals from the first and second tuners to respective channel signals so as to reconstruct respective data bit streams.

Abstract: A half-pixel processing apparatus of a macroblock for motion compensation of a moving image in which NxN pixel data selected for the motion compensation of the moving image is divided into a predetermined unit and half-pixel processed. The half-pixel processing apparatus includes a first unit which sums successive pixel data constituting the N kinds of pixel data and pixel data horizontally adjacent to the successive pixel data constituting the N kinds of pixel data according to a horizontal half-pixel processing signal which is input from an external source. A pipeline unit sequentially stores and outputs the data applied from the first unit. A second unit sums the pixel data output from the pipeline unit and pixel data vertically adjacent to the pixel data output from the pipeline unit according to a vertical half-pixel processing signal which is input from an external source.

Abstract: A high-speed motion vector decoding circuit which decodes a motion vector formatted according to the MPEG-2 standard. The motion vector decoding circuit implements a motion vector decoding method on dedicated hardware including a pipeline structure. The hardware includes a parameter store for storing the input motion vector decoding parameters, that is, a motion vector range determination code, a motion vector code, and a motion vector residual code.
