  • Publication number: 20080205370
Abstract: The method for controlling a use amount of a radio channel for transmitting a packet from a node in a wireless Ad Hoc network that employs a contention-based protocol includes (a) estimating a total amount of data transmitted through packet transmission from the node; (b) controlling a backoff time that determines the use amount of the radio channel based on the estimated amount of transmitted data; and (c) participating in contention for gaining access for the next packet transmission by using the backoff time. A contention window value for setting the bounds of backoff time can be set by calculating a total amount of data transmitted through a transmit node, and thus channel distribution can be controlled such that a plurality of transmit nodes can fairly transmit data through the channel, thereby enhancing quality of packet data service.

  • Publication number: 20080137601
Abstract: The present invention relates to an uplink framing method and apparatus in a mobile communication system. After a mobile terminal and a base station are connected to each other in a wireless manner, the base station allocates an uplink radio resource to a medium access control (MAC) layer of the mobile terminal, and then scheduling is performed for each connection in a buffer. Next, a packet data unit (PDU) is generated to satisfy the uplink time constraint and then transmitted to the base station. Therefore, hardware implementation complexity can be minimized in a mobile communication system that should support fast data transmission, and at the same time, a required uplink framing time can be minimized in a system that supports a short frame period.

  • Publication number: 20080137781
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of detecting a space-time code in a mobile communication system. When detecting a space-time code B for a plurality of transmitting antennas, an ML (maximum likelihood) metric, which is generally calculated by using a specific structure of a matrix B, is defined as a new ML metric by reducing a variable of the ML metric. Two dependent sphere decoding processes are performed and an intersection of the decoding results is calculated, and a signal is detected from the ML metric. Therefore, since detection of the space-time code B for the plurality of transmitting antennas is performed by using the newly defined ML metric, an amount of matrix calculated can be reduced, and a calculation amount can be reduced by performing the two dependent sphere decoding processes. Further, since a detection order of symbols is changed according to a channel situation, it is possible to improve the performance of the system.

  • Publication number: 20080037478
Abstract: In the method for dynamic IP allocation using a mobile IP in a wireless portable Internet system, a MAC message used to register a mobile subscriber station contains a flag including a mobile IP version parameter. Upon checking the mobile IP version, the mobile subscriber terminal transmits a mobile IP registration request message to a base station during MAC connection establishment. The base station transmits a mobile IP registration reply message to the mobile subscriber in response to the received mobile IP registration request message to allocate a dynamic IP address to the mobile subscriber station. The dynamic IP allocation process is performed through a secondary management connection to achieve a rapid handoff without using a connection identifier. In addition, the present invention supports a seamless service and the use of the mobile IP in the IEEE 802.

  • Publication number: 20070097862
Abstract: Disclosed is a call admission controlling device and method for providing QoS (quality of service) in the portable Internet. When a mobile terminal requests a guarantee of the corresponding QoS and a call admission, a packet access router calculates a bandwidth available for resource reservation according to mobility characteristics of a cell to which the mobile terminal belongs, and determines resource reserved states according to the mobility characteristics with adjacent cells based on the calculated bandwidth to thus control call admission in order to satisfy a handoff dropping probability of the corresponding cell and prevent disconnected calls when a handoff toward the adjacent cells occurs. As a result, the handoff dropping probability of cells is guaranteed, and the resources are utilized effectively.

  • Patent number: 6393030
Abstract: A cellular capacity in a multimedia DS-CDMA system may be maximized by controlling a transmission rate of data calls. In a method for maximizing the cellular capacity, the total interference quantity is controlled by restraining the transmission rates of the respective data calls according to diminution factors of a linear, a parabola and a hyperbola; the transmission rate of the data call is increased in case a traffic load is small; and the transmission rate of the data call is decreased in case the traffic is overloaded, thereby more calls can be received and the number of subscribers having a service of voice and data calls in the CDMA circumstances may be allowed most suitably. In case a call of higher priority is newly received under a state that the data call of a high speed occupies a resource of a system for a long time, the transmission rate of the currently progressing data is controlled to receive the new call.

  • Patent number: 5907543
Abstract: This invention is directed to a method for allocating a call in a CDMA base station. Whenever the base station receives a report of the change in the transmission power from channel processors, the level of interference affecting neighboring cells by a cell of its own is measured. In addition, when a new call is attempted, upon comparing the measured level of interference with a predetermined reference level (a threshold value) of interference, it is determined whether a call is allowed (i.e, allocated) or not dependent on a distance between the mobile station and the base station.
