  • Publication number: 20080276581
Abstract: A support framework for containing a granular medium that is used to remediate corrosive vaporous pollutants in an air stream. The support framework is situated within a plenum and comprises two concentric open-lattice weave cylinders made from corrosion resistant fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP). The cylinders are of differing diameters and the granular medium is placed into and contained within the open space formed between the inside wall of the outer cylinder and the outside wall of the inner cylinder. The open-lattice weave design allows a greater radial flow through the medium per unit of time, doing so with less pressure drop and using less energy than the prior art. The use of FRP to form the cylinder walls allows creation of large units that are suitable for use in municipal and industrial settings, which was not possible previously.

  • Patent number: 7274868
Abstract: An aerial photography apparatus that comprises a remote controlled piloted aircraft, a platform, a camera, and a remote wireless transmitter for operating and controlling the apparatus. The remote controlled piloted aircraft is attached to the top side of the platform. The camera is attached to the bottom side of the platform using a rigid member having a rotatable joint. The remote controlled piloted aircraft lifts and moves the apparatus to a desired location at a specific altitude above a particular property where the panoramic aerial photograph is to be taken. Depending upon the wind forces exerted upon the remote controlled piloted aircraft and the resulting orientation of the aircraft to maintain the camera at the desired location, the rotatable joint enables the gravitational weight of the camera to naturally gravitate to a vertical orientation or position relative to the ground. Alternatively, cushions in the platform or a suspension system may be used to achieve this position for the camera.

  • Patent number: 7257931
Abstract: A device for patching wall holes caused by a doorknob or other item impact, which device is assembled in situ between the injured wall member and an adjacent rear wall member. A master plate having a circular opening with four ninety-degree apart radiating outward slots, is adhered to the interior face of the injured wall over the opening. Two inter-engageable body sections each having a tongue are centrally inter-engaged at right angles and retained by placement of a disk designated the central section having a central internal cross-shaped cutout over the engaged tongues. The disk bearing engaged body sections are recessed into the master plate up to the tongues, rotated and locked into position between the wall members. Spackle or plaster is applied, allowed to dry, and then painted/papered to yield a non-discernable repair is applied, allowed to dry and then painted or papered over to yield a non-discernible repair.

  • Publication number: 20040244526
Abstract: The bicycle handlebar is configured with a center bar and two side bars that are attached to the ends of the center bar. The center bar is attached to the middle of the side bar and parts of the side bars forward of the center bar are used for mounting a brake lever, shift lever or a combined brake and shift levers. A portion of the side bar behind the center bar is held by the rider and allows the rider to easily grasp the brake or shift lever.

  • Patent number: 6775390
Abstract: A headset has one or two earpieces, an adjustable microphone boom, and a means for securing the headset to the user. The earpiece includes a speaker element for generating sound and a sound funneling device for funneling sound from the speaker element to an ear canal of the user. The sound funneling device rests within a concha and at the entrance of the ear canal for funneling sound and for stabilizing the earpiece against an ear of the user. In the preferred embodiment, the sound funneling device includes a first end which is open-ended and facing the speaker element, and a second end which includes one or more apertures and rests at the entrance of the ear canal. The first end has a circumference which is larger than a circumference of the second end which focuses the sound from the speaker element to the ear canal. A speaker cushion is configured to fit around the speaker element and the sound funneling device and preferably provides a means for coupling the speaker element to the sound funneling device.

  • Patent number: 6663743
Abstract: A container capable of containing components of a mixture in chambers separated by a peelable seal constructed from a multi-layer film. The multi-layer film has at least one layer of a RF-responsive material and an interior layer of non-RF responsive material. When the layers are subjected to RF energy, the RF-responsive layer heats the interior layers resulting in a bond in the form of a peelable seal between the interior layers. The peelable seal is capable of withstanding external pressures to the container, such as from dropping the container. The seal may be selectively opened to allow mixture of components contained therein.

  • Patent number: 6108938
Abstract: The invention is of methodologies and associated equipment, the practice and use of which, in the context of drying systems used in the drying of conveyorized articles bearing residual moisture from prior manufacturing steps, provides substantially enhanced drying efficacy and substantially accelerated drying rates, when compared with presently available drying systems. The present invention is of certain design parameters for drying systems, and associated methods, the practice of which result in impingement pressures, created by air or flowing from drying system nozzles onto to-be-dried articles of manufacture, which fall between the certain optimum ranges discovered by the present inventor for drying articles such as printed circuit boards in an assembly line context. The design parameters pertain to relative dimensions and positioning of air supply conduits, manifolds, nozzles, and conveyor surfaces, as well as performance parameters such as the velocity of air exiting the drying system nozzles.

  • Patent number: 6088944
Abstract: An apparatus for oscillating a flotation device on a body of water comprising attaching a rigid extension having a buoyancy container to the flotation device, placing the flotation device in the body of water such that the buoyancy container is filled with water and the flotation device and rigid extension rotate to a vertical position, and pumping gas continuously to the buoyancy container such that the buoyancy container will rise to the surface, rotating the flotation device and rigid extension to a horizontal position, thereby causing the buoyancy container to fill with water, further causing the flotation device and rigid extension to rotate to the vertical position, and to so oscillate between the vertical and horizontal positions continuously.

  • Patent number: 5031592
Abstract: There is disclosed an internal combustion (V-8) engine having an improved form of cylinder head and intake manifold for augmented combustion air flow and improved fuel mixing wherein the intake chamber immediately upstream of the intake valve is provided with two inlet ducts rather than the usual one inlet duct. The primary inlet duct may be conventional; the secondary inlet duct branches off in a direction more nearly parallel to the central axis of the cylinder and preferably connects to an inlet pipe which draws air through an independent air filter. The secondary inlet duct is provided with its own butterfly valve which can be independently controlled either automatically or manually and may be provided with a fuel injector. Secondary inlet ducts of the system can be attached on the outside to the inlet stacks (for injected engines), to an air breather base (on carburated engines), or to draw filtered air from the atmosphere directly into the system.
