  • Patent number: 6773765
Abstract: Disclosed is a process for making a flexible magnet with an induced anisotropy, and in particular to a process for making a flexible anisotropic magnet by thermal spraying in the presence of an applied magnetic field. The method may be used to fabricate a substrate having a flexible anisotropic magnetic coating or a free standing anisotropic flexible magnet.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 4, 1999
Date of Patent: August 10, 2004
Assignee: The Research Foundation of State University of New York
Inventors: Richard J. Gambino, Dongil Shin, Jeffrey A. Brogan
  • Publication number: 20020110330
Abstract: A package for a fiber optic device or fiber optic component having at least one optical fiber extending therefrom. The package is comprised of a support substrate for supporting the optical device or optic component, the support substrate having at least one optical fiber extending therefrom. A housing surrounds the substrate and has an opening at one end. At least one optical fiber extends through the opening. A layer of metal seals the opening of each end of the tube and the glass fiber cladding where the optical fiber extends through the layer of metal. The layer of metal is applied using a thin film deposition process, such as ion-beam assisted deposition, electron-beam deposition, or ion-beam deposition.
    Type: Application

    Publication date: August 15, 2002
    Applicant: Gould Optronics Inc.
Inventors: Jeffrey A. Brogan, Michael A. Centanni
  • Publication number: 20020110682
Abstract: A thermally-sprayed non-skid coating that is comprised of an aggregate material embedded within a layer which is comprised of at least one coalesced, thermoplastic polymer. The aggregate has a melting temperature greater than the melting temperature of the at least one coalesced, thermoplastic polymer, and the coating contains no volatile, organic compounds.
