  • Publication number: 20180285645
Abstract: A computer system, method, and computer readable product are provided for setting a personal status using augmented reality. In various embodiments, an augmented reality computing device captures an image of a physical scene, which includes a person. The computing device then identifies the person, and accesses a personal status for that person. The computing device generates and displays an augmented reality image that displays the personal status in proximity to the person in the scene.

  • Patent number: 10032456
Abstract: Aspects define a capture signal as audio inputs by a user of word content. An input of the capture signal word content is recognized in response to an audio input of the user reciting the capture signal word content into a microphone in communication with the recording device during a recording of a speech presentation by the recording device. A recording portion start time is identified that is prior to a time of the input of the capture signal during the current recording of the audio speech presentation in response to recognizing the input of the capture signal word content from the user. The recording device is driven to capture a portion of the recorded audio speech presentation over a period of time spanning from the recording portion start time to the time of the input of the capture signal word content.

  • Patent number: 10001911
Abstract: According to one embodiment of the present invention, a system determines the best communication channel to be utilized between multiple participants and establishes a communication link between the multiple participants via that communication channel. The system analyzes the preferences, limitations, behaviors, and capabilities of each of the participants and displays an aggregate of these traits from each of participants. The system then applies a set of rules and guidelines for determining which communication channel is best suited for establishing a communication link with all of the participants. The system comprises a computer system including at least one processor. Embodiments of the present invention further include a method and computer program product for determining the best communication channel to be utilized between multiple participants and establishing a communication link between the multiple participants in substantially the same manner described above.

  • Publication number: 20180153464
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for assisting the user to wear an appropriate amount of clothing layers. A smart device (e.g., smartwatch) receives measurements of temperature and humidity sensed at various locations on a human body which are sources of sweat. In response to the measured temperature or humidity being above the first threshold (indication that the user will start to feel overheated) or below the second threshold (indication that the user will start to feel cold), the smart device generates a notification to the user to adjust the clothing layers (e.g., remove a clothing layer). Alternatively, the smart device may receive measurements of a pH level of the user's sweat. The smart device generates a notification to the user to stop exercising and to drink water in response to the received measurement being below a threshold (indication that the user is approaching dehydration).

  • Patent number: 9972340
Abstract: In a computer system for navigating to a location in recorded content, a computer receives a descriptive term or phrase associated with a searchable tag. The searchable tag corresponds to a point-in-time at which a non-speech sound occurred during the recording of recorded content of a communication between a plurality of participants. The recorded content includes speech from one or more of the plurality of participants, the descriptive term includes an automatically generated phonetic translation of the non-speech sound, and the non-speech sound was transmitted to the plurality of participants during the recording. The computer navigates to a location in the recorded content corresponding to the point-in-time at which the non-speech sound occurred.

  • Patent number: 9971994
Abstract: A method for using an undo stack to explore past actions and apply new actions to previous states in a data view. The method includes detecting a change in an application data view. The application then displays an undo stack and stores the data change in the application data view to the undo stack. Upon detecting a selection of the undo stack entry for undo, the application returns the application data view to the state represented by the undo stack entry. The method further includes providing a user interface allowing a user to perform operations on undo stack entries. Responsive to the user utilizing the user interface and making selections, the application then adjusts the application data view state based on the performed actions.

  • Patent number: 9946554
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for configuring an operating system to associate a peripheral is described. The method includes loading the operating system on a client computer based on an operating system image, determining an identifier of the client computer, retrieving peripheral information to identify a peripheral associated with the client computer, and writing a configuration setting of the client computer to a storage medium of the client computer based on the peripheral information. The identifier identifies the client computer. The peripheral information is associated with the client computer based on an association between the peripheral information and the identifier.

  • Patent number: 9934616
Abstract: In order to aid a user in filling a container with a target volume of a substance, an image is received. The image includes a view of the container and a view of a reference object. The reference object has a known dimension. The view of the reference object and the view of the container are then compared with reference to the known dimension. Based on the comparison, a volume of the container is determined. Based on the volume of the container, a volume indicator is provided.
