  • Publication number: 20210391935
Abstract: A method includes receiving, from a requesting device, a broadcast station identifier associated with an over-the-air broadcast station. In response to receiving the station identifier, returning to the requesting device an address of a streaming station corresponding to the over-the-air broadcast station. A determination is made regarding whether the requesting device will insert advertisements locally. In response to determining that the requesting will insert advertisements locally, custom advertisements are transmitted to the requesting device for insertion into the streaming station corresponding to the over-the-air broadcast station.

  • Patent number: 11195411
Abstract: Traffic probe devices, for validating traffic flow information, are selected by determining if a traffic probe device has a driver associated therewith traveling on an entire roadway segment of interest and whether the traffic probe device travelled continuously on the entire roadway segment of interest. The method continues by adding the traffic probe device to a list of traffic probe devices. The method continues by receiving measurements, during a particular time, from one or more of the traffic probe devices on the list of traffic probe devices, validating traffic-flow information for the roadway segment of interest, the traffic-flow information associated with the one or more of the traffic probe devices on the list of traffic probe devices and the particular time, and disseminating traffic messages including at least the validated traffic-flow prediction to users.

  • Patent number: 11194322
Abstract: A method for monitoring equipment and gathering consumption and diagnostic information can comprise receiving, at a server, a corrugate usage indicator. The corrugate usage indicator can comprise information relating to an amount of corrugate used by a first packaging system. The method can also comprise creating a usage profile for the first packaging system. The usage profile can comprise a corrugate usage profile. The corrugate usage profile can comprise an association between the amount of corrugate used by the first packaging system and the specifications and number of boxes created. Additionally, the method can comprise automatically generating, based upon the corrugate usage profile, a predicted time when a stock of corrugate associated with the first packaging system will be depleted.

  • Publication number: 20210334858
Abstract: A transfer time, at which control of automatically inserting advertisements into a broadcast is to be passed from a first advertisement management system to a second advertisement management system, is scheduled to occur within a spot break. During a first portion of the spot break controlled by the first advertisement management system, a determination is made that playout of a final advertisement scheduled for broadcast during the first portion of the spot break cannot be completed prior to the transfer time. A run-last-spot parameter indicating whether the first advertisement management system is permitted to pass control of automatically inserting advertisements into the broadcast prior to the transfer time is obtained. Control of automatically inserting advertisements into the broadcast is conditionally passed from the first advertisement management system to the second advertisement management system based on the run-last-spot parameter.

  • Publication number: 20210302659
Abstract: Wavelength-tuning optical filters are presented that also allows for the tuning or real-time adjustment of its bandwidth, or passband width. The bandwidth-adjustable tunable optical filters use one or more diffraction gratings that are fixed in place to provide angular dispersion of different wavelengths. A first rotatable or tilting mirror is used to adjust the angle of incidence of an input optical beam to the diffraction grating or diffraction grating system, while a second rotatable or tilting mirror is used to aim the diffracted optical beam back through the diffraction grating or diffraction grating system, so that a subset of the incoming wavelengths are optically aligned to the end face of an output fiber. The first rotatable or tilting mirror provides tuning or adjustment of the bandwidth or passband width of the tunable optical filter, while the second rotatable or tilting mirror tunes or adjusts the center wavelength of the passband.

  • Patent number: 11132720
Abstract: An ad proxy generates a playback manifest for delivery to a destination platform via a content distribution network (CDN). The playback manifest provided to the destination device includes hosted locations, such as network addresses, of both primary media files and advertising content. The playback manifest can also include tracking-calls. The destination platform receives normalized media files associated with the network addresses included in the playback manifest, and plays out those normalized media files during execution of the playback manifest. Tracking-calls can be fired, in accordance with the playback manifest, when part or all of a normalized media file has been played out. The tracking-calls can be used to facilitate calculation of impressions. The destination device need not be capable of differentiating between primary media content and advertising content, thus allowing even limited capability platforms, e.g. integrated automotive platforms, to provide targeted advertising.

  • Publication number: 20210290332
Abstract: A system for detecting disposal of metallic objects into an opening of a medical waste container, including: an indicator for indicating passage of metallic objects through the opening, a pair of receive coils and a transmit coil spaced therebetween shaped for receiving waste therethrough adjacent to the opening, and a controller in electrical communication with the coils. The controller generates and communicates a transmit signal to the transmit coil, which generates a magnetic field that induces voltage in each of the receive coils, which each generate a receive signal. The controller generates a waveform based on the receive signals with a baseline corresponding to absence of metallic objects, and analyzes the waveform with respect to opposite first and second thresholds. The controller activates the indicator in response to metallic objects passing through the coils when the waveform first exceeds the first threshold and then subsequently exceeds the second threshold.

  • Publication number: 20210281426
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to the secure communication of devices. In one embodiment, a first device is configured to perform a pairing operation with a second device to establish a secure communication link between the first device and the second device. The pairing operation includes receiving firmware from the second device to be executed by the first device during communication over the secure communication link, and in response to a successful verification of the firmware, establishing a shared encryption key to be used by the first and second devices during the communication. In some embodiments, the pairing operation includes receiving a digital signature created from a hash value of the firmware and a public key of the second device, and verifying the firmware by extracting the hash value from the digital signature and comparing the extracted hash value with a hash value of the received firmware.

  • Patent number: 11111980
Abstract: A unidirectional damping system includes a shaft and unidirectional damping modules. Each module is fixedly coupled to the shaft. Each module includes a fluid-filled variable-volume chamber and spring(s). The chamber has at least one port through which fluid flows based on changes in volume of the chamber wherein, when the shaft is adapted to have a unidirectional force applied thereto, the chamber decreases in volume. The spring(s) is coupled to the chamber for increasing volume of the chamber when the unidirectional force is not applied to the shaft. A fluid-filled spacer chamber is coupled between adjacent modules and is uncoupled from the shaft. The spacer chamber includes at least one venting port through which fluid flows based on pressure in the spacer chamber.

  • Publication number: 20210274613
Abstract: Light emitting diode (LED) lighting fixtures are presented that use a low-pass filter to smooth out or eliminate discrete, step changes in LED light fixture brightness, that may result from the use of digital brightness level settings. Because some lighting applications require a fast response to changes in the set brightness level, and some applications require a slower response, one set of examples use a switchable RC low-pass filter circuit, with two or more selectable RC time constant values. Another set of examples use a programmable resistance integrated circuit to achieve a more continuously-variable time constant, for greater flexibility in adjusting the response time of the LED lighting fixture, in response to user brightness inputs. The user is able to control the maximum rate of change of the LED light fixture's brightness, in response to changes in the brightness setting.
