  • Publication number: 20020061543
Abstract: A method of diagnosing the presence or absence of cancer in a human patient is disclosed. In one embodiment, this method comprises the steps of examining patient tissue for the CRD-BP expression levels and comparing that expression level with control levels. The present invention is also a method of inhibiting cancer cell growth comprising the step of eliminating or lowering the level of functional CRD-BP in the cancerous tissues.

  • Patent number: 6371428
Abstract: A collapsible beverage container holder is designed to facilitate the ability to position the holder conveniently and securely at a seat or couch cushion or bed mattress level. The holder is designed to be packaged as a flat folded piece of material, typically plastic or the like, that can be unfolded and assembled in a simple fashion. Once assembled, a mounting portion of the base is slid under the seat or couch cushion or bed mattress with the beverage receiving portion protruding therefrom.

  • Publication number: 20020038205
Abstract: An apparatus for verifying the functionality of a production line electronics safety tester such as the hipot tester/ground continuity tester. The apparatus simulates a product to be tested by a safety tester and can be configured to simulate a passing or failing product for each of a plurality of separate tests.

  • Patent number: 6349136
Abstract: A system and method that provides control of a conference call. A controlling party enters a code and is isolated from the conference. Each conference participant is sequentially connected to the controlling party so that the controlling party may determine the noise level on that leg of the call. If there is no excess noise, then the controlling party may enter a code which causes the switch to select the next party on the conference call. When the controlling party discerns the offending conference participant, the controlling party can signal the switch to drop the offending party. The controlling party may then rejoin all of the conference participants.

  • Patent number: 6137549
Abstract: A system is provided for distributing television program guide data from a main facility to set-top boxes or similar receivers via local television systems. Program guide data is placed in a number of selectively configurable queues. The configuration of the queues is determined by queue configuration data that may be supplied by the operator of the main facility. The operator can readily reconfigure the queues by altering the queue configuration data. Program guide data from the queues may be distributed to the receivers using multiple feed generators, each of which distributes program guide data to receivers with different addresses. The feed generators determine which receivers are busy processing recently transmitted data, so that data may be directed toward receivers that are not currently busy.

  • Patent number: 6061337
Abstract: A system and method for measuring the approximate distance and direction of a mobile unit from a plurality of cells in order to determine whether and how to handoff the mobile unit and which cell may be the best serving cell. The CDMA timing system is used to provide an estimate of the subscriber's location to be determined by a CDMA base station. A distance calculation is made by the serving cell site sending a request for signal strength message to a mobile unit. The mobile unit measures pilot signal strength and a time offset from the expected time of such pilot signals. The signal strength and time offsets are returned to the cell site. a processor in the system can then determine if a handoff is really desirable, and with which of the cell sites is the best serving all for the mobile unit the mobile unit with a high degree of confidence that the call will be maintained.

  • Patent number: 5969679
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining whether a wireless station is operating within a prescribed geographic location. During an initialization process, the wireless telephone measures propagation delays of pilot signals from nearby base stations and stores the propagation delays in a non-volatile memory of the wireless station. Thereafter, during a check process, the wireless station measures propagation delays of pilot signals from nearby base stations and compares them with the stored propagation delays stored in memory. If the difference between the two sets of propagation delays are within a predetermined tolerance, then a determination is made that the wireless station is operating within the prescribed geographic location. Multiple sets of propagation delays may be stored in memory such that a determination can be made as to whether the mobile station is operating within any one of a number of prescribed geographic locations.

  • Patent number: 5930293
Abstract: A wireless repeater comprising a first antenna for receiving a first signal from a wireless terminal and for transmitting the first signal along a first path; a second antenna for receiving a second signal from the wireless terminal and for transmitting the second signal along a second path; a summing circuit for receiving the first signal from the first path and the second signal from the second path, for summing the first signal and the second signal to form an aggregate signal, and for outputting the aggregate signal along a third path; a delay in the second signal that makes the second signal path longer than the first signal path; and a third antenna for receiving the third signal from the third path and for transmitting the third signal.

  • Patent number: 5025214
Abstract: A circuit and a process for converting the output signal from a half bridge transducer to that from an LVDT transducer to enable direct use of either signal in an electronic column. The circuit subtracts the transducer exciting signal from a half bridge transducer output signal according to a formula to provide the conversion. A movable jumper allows the circuit to alternatively operate as a unity gain follower to pass an LVDT transducer output signal unchanged.
