  • Publication number: 20230150644
Abstract: A panel assembly for an overhead support structure of a vehicle. The panel assembly includes a panel movable relative to the overhead support structure between a stowed position and an open position. One or more actuators release the panel from the stowed position. The actuators include first and second bodies arranged together and configured to move relative to each other and with the first body movable relative to the overhead support structure between first and second positions. The first position orients the second body at a first angular position relative to the overhead support structure that engages a catch on the second body with a latch pin. The second position orients the second body at a different second angular position relative to the overhead support structure to release the catch from the latch pin and thereby release the panel from the stowed position.

  • Patent number: 11649795
Abstract: A method and system for operating a vehicle that includes a plurality of engine starting devices and an internal combustion engine is described. In one example, the method determines whether or not to inhibit automatic engine stopping so that a lifespan of an engine starting device may be extended. In one example, the inhibiting is based on a ratio of an actual total number of engine starts generated via the engine starting device to an actual total distance traveled by the vehicle since the engine starting device was installed.

  • Patent number: 11628817
Abstract: A vehicle includes a drive wheel, an engine, an accelerator pedal, a torque converter, a clutch, and a controller. The drive wheel is configured to propel the vehicle. The engine is configured to generate power and to deliver power to the drive wheel to accelerate the vehicle. The accelerator pedal is configured to generate an acceleration request based on a pedal position. The torque converter is disposed between the engine and the drive wheel. The clutch is disposed between the engine and the drive wheel and is configured to bypass the torque converter. The controller is programmed to, in response to depressing the accelerator pedal to a position that corresponds with accelerating the vehicle at a desired magnitude, adjust the torque of the engine to accelerate the vehicle at the desired magnitude, regardless of the state of the clutch.

  • Patent number: 11606478
Abstract: System and techniques for adaptive color transformation to aid computer vision are described herein. Colors from an image are mapped into a multi-dimensional space to create a distribution of colors in the image. A line can be fit to the distribution. Here, the line includes an angle relative to a coordinate system of the multi-dimensional space. A transformation to colors can then be applied to the image based on the angle of the line. The transformation producing a reduced image where a color complexity of the original image is reduced.

  • Patent number: 11602669
Abstract: A method of operating a fitness tracking system including a plurality of sensors is disclosed herein. The method includes mounting a biometric monitoring device on an article of apparel worn by a user. The method further includes receiving a prompt indicating that the user intends to provide a verbal cue via a microphone provided on the biometric monitoring device. After receiving the verbal cue from the user one of a plurality of exercise modules is selected for execution by the processor. Each of the plurality of exercise modules is configured to generate workout metrics based at least in part on physiological data received from a first of the plurality of sensors without regard to physiological data from a second of the plurality of sensors. The selected exercise module generates workout metrics for the user for a limited period of time ranging from selection of the exercise module until occurrence of a termination event.

  • Publication number: 20230061986
Abstract: A kitchen exhaust system includes a hood, a vapor passage, a cold air induction system configured to produce cold air, and a mixing chamber. The hood is configured to collect grease-laden vapors from a cooking area. The mixing chamber is fluidly coupled to the hood through the vapor passage to receive the grease-laden vapors from the cooking area and fluidly coupled to cold air induction system to receive the cold air produced by the cold air induction system. The mixing chamber has one or more walls, a grease drain, and a vapor exhaust. The one or more walls are positioned in the mixing chamber create turbulence of air flow formed from the cold air and the grease-laden vapors. The cold air and the turbulence of the air flow separate at least a portion of the grease from the grease-laden vapors.

  • Publication number: 20230039194
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for providing viewers of streamed video content with the option to view alternative video content in which alternative tone maps are applied to respective regions of interest. In some embodiments, the streamed video content is divided into slices, and alternative tone maps are applied to respective regions of interest within the slices. When a server receives a request from a client for alternative tone mappings of different regions, slices with the appropriate mapping may be assembled on demand and delivered to the client in a single video stream. Tone mappings may be used, for example, to highlight particular objects, such as players in a sporting event captured in the streamed video content.

  • Patent number: 11571144
Abstract: A method of determining a CRF level for a user of a fitness tracking system includes receiving activity data from at least one activity sensor carried by the user during a number of workouts, the activity data including distance data for each of the number of workouts, and then generating workout data based on the activity data. The method further includes storing the workout data in a memory, the memory further including demographic data for the user. When the an attribute of the workout data is less than a threshold number, the method includes determining a first CRF level for the user based on a first CRF model. When the attribute of the workout data is greater than the threshold number, the method includes determining a second CRF level for the user based on a second CRF model, and displaying the first and second CRF levels.

  • Patent number: 11572844
Abstract: A method for stopping an engine within a desired crankshaft angular range is disclosed. In one example, the method may take no control actions if it is determined that the engine will stop within the desired crankshaft angular range. However, if it is determined that the engine may stop outside of the desired crankshaft angular range, expansion combustion may be initiated in a cylinder so that the engine stops in a desired crankshaft angular range.
