  • Publication number: 20090287668
Abstract: A computer-based process is described for identifying clusters of documents that have some degree of similarity from among a set of documents that permits user interaction with the process. A plurality of seed candidate documents is identified. Candidate probes based upon the seed candidate documents are generated, and information regarding the candidate probes is displayed to a user. User input regarding the candidate probes is received, and a set of probes from which to form clusters of documents are defined based upon the user input regarding the candidate probes. A probe is selected and a cluster of documents is formed from among available documents not yet clustered using the probe. The process can be repeated to generate further clusters. The process can be implemented with a computer system, and associated programming instructions can be contained within a computer readable medium.

  • Publication number: 20090160201
Abstract: An impact-absorbing strike assembly for a lock on a closure such as a gate. A strike plate is mounted in spaced relationship from a mounting plate. A bolt having a head extends slidably through a bore in the mounting plate and is attached to the strike plate. A primary compression spring is disposed between the mounting plate and the strike plate, and a secondary compression spring is positioned on the bolt between the head and the rear of the mounting plate. Upon closure, the momentum of the gate causes the primary spring between the strike plate and the mounting plate to be compressed, absorbing the energy of the impact. In another embodiment, an impact-absorbing strike assembly includes a latch component such as a clevis-style strike for use with a mechanical or electromechanical locking device.

  • Patent number: 7426509
Abstract: A technique for representing an information need and employing one or more filters to select documents that satisfy the represented information need, including a technique of creating filters that involves (a) dividing a set of documents into one or more subsets such that each subset can be used as the source of features for creating a filtering profile or used to set or validate the score threshold for the profile and (b) determining whether multiple profiles are required and how to combine them to create an effective filter. Multiple profiles can be incorporated into an individual filter and the individual filters combined to create an ensemble filter. Ensemble filters can then be further combined to create meta filters.

  • Patent number: 7405155
Abstract: A circuit package includes a substrate having an opening and a single unitary heat sink adapted to effectively dissipate heat is positioned in the opening to expose top and bottom surfaces which are respectively coplanar with top and bottom surfaces of the substrate. Selective plating includes applying first and second metal patterns to a substrate surface, creating a potential voltage difference between the first metal pattern and a metal source, and plating the first metal pattern by attracting a first metal type to the voltage potential of the first metal pattern. The voltage potential of the first metal pattern is less than the voltage potential of the metal source.

  • Publication number: 20070170681
Abstract: Various embodiments of variable rate stabilizer bars are disclosed, including apparatus, vehicle, and kit implementations. Embodiments may have first and second stabilizer bar members. Each stabilizer bar member may be adapted to be operatively coupled to a respective, opposite ground-engaging element of a vehicle. Each stabilizer bar member may be configured to experience a torque about their longitudinal axis upon movement of the respective ground-engaging element relative to the vehicle when operatively coupled to the ground-engaging elements. Embodiments may have a torque transfer regulator, which may be operatively coupled to both stabilizer bar members. The torque transfer regulator may be configured to transfer a portion of the torque experienced by one of the stabilizer bar members to the other stabilizer bar member. Some embodiments may provide for active control of the degree of torque transfer from one ground-engaging element's suspension system to the other.

  • Publication number: 20070112867
Abstract: A method for identifying clusters of similar documents from among a set of documents is described. A particular document is selected based on rank from among a ranked set of documents, wherein the ranked set of documents are included among available documents of the set of documents. A probe is generated based on the particular document. The probe comprising one or more features. Documents that satisfy a similarity condition are found from among the available documents using a search based upon the probe. Some or all documents found are associated with a particular cluster of documents. The process can be repeated to generate further clusters. The method can be implemented with a computer, and associated programming instructions can be contained within a compute readable carrier.

  • Publication number: 20060248988
Abstract: A driving tool includes a shank, a sleeve, and a return spring disposed therebetween. The shank has a ball recess with a ball received therein. The shank has an interior interface adapted for receiving a tool bit. The ball recess substantially extends into the interior interface. The sleeve mounts on the shank to slide between limits. The sleeve has a first interior ball release recess followed by an interior ball lock surface and then a second interior ball release recess. The release recesses and surface are oriented with respect to the ball recess so as to permit selective displacement of the same over the ball recess to unlock the ball with movement in either direction. A return spring is disposed between the shank and the sleeve. The spring has a first and second end.

  • Patent number: 7019394
Abstract: A circuit package includes a base portion and a first metal pattern disposed on a substrate surface. Second and third metal patterns are disposed on another substrate surface, and electrically coupled to first and second vias. • Patent number: 6896422
Abstract: Optoelectronic modules and methods of manufacturing the same are disclosed. Some of the disclosed modules employ a tape automated bonding substrate (TAB) which is surface mounted with circuit elements. In some examples, the TAB is mounted to a rigid substrate after a fiber submount is passively positioned on the substrate. This modular manufacturing technique limits the value of yield loss. In some example modules, only one active alignment is employed to manufacture the module. Some of the disclosed modules include an optically pluggable connector.

  • Patent number: 6821032
Abstract: A low profile ringframe used in electro-optical module packaging is disclosed. The ringframe can be mounted so as to be set back from, be flush with, or be extending exteriorly over the outer end wall of the ceramic substrate, and may also be formed so as to help physically separate the ringframe-to-subtrate solder joint from the ringframe-to-laser weld seam. The ringframe, along the side where it is sealed to the adjacent substrate, can be notched with one or more cutout areas to allow a space for wicking of reflowed solder to prevent a built-up solder fillet from forming exteriorly of the ringframe.

  • Publication number: 20030223709
Abstract: A low profile ringframe used in electro-optical module packaging, for being hermetically sealed, e.g., by a solder joint, to a metalized ceramic substrate base, and to which a deep cover is later hermetically sealed, e.g., by a laser weld, the ringframe's side walls being of sufficiently low height to permit computer-aided viewing from the side, as well as top, of the critical optical fiber end-to-laser diode alignment. The ringframe can be mounted so as to be set back from, be flush with, or be extending exteriorly over the outer end wall of the ceramic substrate, and may also be formed so as to help physically separate the ringframe-to-substrate solder joint from the ringframe-to-laser weld seam. • Patent number: 5898283
Abstract: A spindle motor of a disk drive is controlled in a switched voltage mode. A power bus supplies a voltage to the spindle motor. The power bus voltage is subject to variations while the spindle motor is being driven. An uncompensated motor voltage signal is modified to provide a compensated signal having a modified duty cycle. The modified duty cycle is inversely proportional to the variations in the power bus voltage. Commutation logic uses the compensated signal to generate commutation commands, which cause a power driver stage to energize the windings of the spindle motor.
