Publication number: 20130138747Abstract: Secure web-based messaging according to a “push” paradigm is augmented by specific, intended recipient authentication. In particular, a document can be sent to a specified, intended recipient through the Web using e-mail recipient notification, and the recipient is authenticated prior to delivering the document to the recipient. Such authentication prevents a cracker from snooping a delivery notification e-mail message and retrieving the document prior to retrieval by the true intended recipient. In addition, such authentication of the recipient is driven by the sender such that prior participation by the recipient in the messaging system according to the present invention is required.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 27, 2012Publication date: May 30, 2013Applicant: AXWAY, INC.Inventors: Jeffrey C. Smith, Jean-Christophe Bandini

Publication number: 20130104185Abstract: A server interacts with a sender to form a package which can include one or more attached data files to be sent to one or more recipients, and the server applies a policy established by a policy authority of the sender to the package. Since the server both forms the package through interaction with the sender and applies the policy, violations of the policy by the package can be brought to the sender's attention during an interactive session with the sender and before encryption of all or part of the package. As a result, the sender is educated regarding the policy of the sender's policy authority, and the sender can modify the package immediately to comport with the policy. The server delivers the package to intended recipients by sending notification to each recipient and including package identification data, e.g., a URL by which the package can be retrieved.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 25, 2012Publication date: April 25, 2013Applicant: Axway Inc.Inventors: Jeffrey C. Smith, Jean-Christophe Bandini

Patent number: 8407780Abstract: An e-mail firewall applies policies to e-mail messages transmitted between a first site and a plurality of second sites. The e-mail firewall includes a plurality of mail transfer relay modules for transferring e-mail messages between the first site and one of the second sites. Policy managers are used to enforce and administer selectable policies. The policies are used to determine security procedures for the transmission and reception of e-mail messages. The e-mail firewall employs signature verification processes to verify signatures in received encrypted e-mail messages. The e-mail firewall is further adapted to employ external servers for verifying signatures. External servers are also used to retrieve data that is employed to encrypt and decrypt e-mail messages received and transmitted by the e-mail firewall, respectively.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2008Date of Patent: March 26, 2013Assignee: Axway Inc.Inventors: Jean-Christophe Denis Bandini, Jeffrey C. Publication number: 20130059372Abstract: Sample processing units useful for mixing and purifying materials, such as fluidic materials are provided. A sample processing unit typically includes a container configured to contain a sample comprising magnetically responsive particles, and one or more magnets that are in substantially fixed positions relative to the container. A sample processing unit also generally includes a conveyance mechanism configured to convey the container to and from a position that is within magnetic communication with the magnet, e.g., such that magnetically responsive particles with captured analytes can be retained within the container when other materials are added to and/or removed from the container. Further, a sample processing unit also typically includes a rotational mechanism that is configured to rotate the container, e.g., to effect mixing of sample materials disposed within the container. Related carrier mechanisms, sample processing stations, systems, and methods are also provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 27, 2012Publication date: March 7, 2013Applicant: IBIS BIOSCIENCES, INC.Inventors: Steven A. Hofstadler, Jared J. Drader, Jose R. Gutierrez, Paul J. Gleason, Rex O. Bare, Robert D. Miller, Jeffrey C. Smith

Publication number: 20110144982Abstract: Vocal musical performances may be captured and continuously pitch-corrected at a mobile device for mixing and rendering with backing tracks in ways that create compelling user experiences. In some cases, the vocal performances of individual users are captured in the context of a karaoke-style presentation of lyrics in correspondence with audible renderings of a backing track. Such performances can be pitch-corrected in real-time at the mobile device in accord with pitch correction settings. In some cases, such pitch correction settings code a particular key or scale for the vocal performance or for portions thereof. In some cases, pitch correction settings include a score-coded melody sequence of note targets supplied with, or for association with, the lyrics and/or backing track. In some cases, pitch correction settings are dynamically variable based on gestures captured at a user interface.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 4, 2010Publication date: June 16, 2011Inventors: Spencer Salazar, Rebecca A. Fiebrink, Ge Wang, Mattias Ljungström, Jeffrey C. Smith, Perry R. Cook

Publication number: 20110144983Abstract: Techniques have been developed to facilitate the capture performances on handheld or other portable computing devices and, in some cases, the pitch-correction and mixing of such vocal performances with backing tracks for audible rendering on such devices. Captivating visual animations and/or facilities for listener comment and ranking are provided in association with an audible rendering of a performance, e.g., a vocal performance captured and pitch-corrected at another similarly configured mobile device and mixed with backing instrumentals and/or vocals. Geocoding of captured vocal performances and/or listener feedback may facilitate animations or display artifacts in ways that are suggestive of a performance or endorsement emanating from a particular geographic locale on a user manipulable globe. In this way, implementations of the described functionality can transform otherwise mundane mobile devices into social instruments that foster a unique sense of global connectivity and community.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 4, 2010Publication date: June 16, 2011Inventors: Spencer Salazar, Rebecca A. Fiebrink, Ge Wang, Mattias Ljungström, Jeffrey C. Smith, Jeannie Yang

Publication number: 20110144981Abstract: Techniques have been developed to facilitate (1) the capture and pitch correction of vocal performances on handheld or other portable computing devices and (2) the mixing of such pitch-corrected vocal performances with backing tracks for audible rendering on targets that include such portable computing devices and as well as desktops, workstations, gaming stations, even telephony targets. Implementations of the described techniques employ signal processing techniques and allocations of system functionality that are suitable given the generally limited capabilities of such handheld or portable computing devices and that facilitate efficient encoding and communication of the pitch-corrected vocal performances (or precursors or derivatives thereof) via wireless and/or wired bandwidth-limited networks for rendering on portable computing devices or other targets.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 4, 2010Publication date: June 16, 2011Inventors: Spencer Salazar, Rebecca A. Fiebrink, Ge Wang, Mattias Ljungström, Jeffrey C. Smith, Perry R. Cook

Publication number: 20110118627Abstract: Disclosed is a disposable patient interface for an intraductal fluid aspiration system. The interface has a flexible tubular distal member for contacting the patient, and a proximal support portion forming a vacuum chamber therein. The support portion has a vacuum aperture for communication with a source of vacuum, and a retention structure for releasably mounting within a hand piece of an intraductal fluid aspiration system. The flexible member preferably has a low modulus of elasticity and a high tear strength, such that it can be stretched to fit over a rigid support without rupture.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 26, 2011Publication date: May 19, 2011Applicant: NEOMATRIX, LLCInventors: Kevin B. Morton, Rex O. Bare, Jeffrey C. Smith, Timothy J. Payne, Paul Gleason
