  • Patent number: 7334733
Abstract: This invention discloses a data card that has a plurality of data arcs and also a linear data track, e.g., a magnetic or optical data strip, disposed on a flat data storage medium. The data card may be employed as a credit card or ID card with conventional magnetic strip for storing conventional data operable with conventional card reader. The data arc segments may be employed to store additional information for authenticating cardholder's personal biometrics information to prevent credit card or ID card frauds. In one embodiment, the data tracks further include at least one full circle data track provided with data for conveniently determining a central position of the data card in a data drive system. The data stored in the full circle data track can also be conveniently used to obtain a measurement of average signal amplitude to calibrate the signal measurements from the data card. • Publication number: 20060248548
Abstract: An optical card or disc drive having a card or disc adaptive receiving carrying tray. A compound pivot mechanism engages a spindle hub with a card or disc inserted and carried on the tray. The spindle and hub is supported by a base chassis, which pivots with respect to a main frame. A sub-chassis is pivot connected with the mainframe and elastically coupled with the base chassis. A cam member on the main frame engages the sub-chassis to pivot the sub-chassis coincident with the tray being level positioned or lowered relative to card spindle hub. The sub-chassis in turn pivots the base chassis to engage or disengage the disc with the spindle hub. The movement of the tray also activates a motor and roller combination to receive or eject the card into or from the tray. The tray accommodates card or discs and comprises mechanisms for securing the card or disc while the card disc is retracted into and ejected from the main frame.

  • Publication number: 20060015816
Abstract: An extensible software framework is used for the development and customization of XML based Web service deployment descriptors. The framework may provide for the mapping and synchronization of XML data fragments in the XML files to user interface components, resulting in an interface that can be used for the development and customization of the Web service configuration. This mechanism may allow concurrent read and write accesses to the XML based Web service deployment descriptors. The mechanism may be extensible, providing for the mapping between the user interface and the XML data fragments to be customized. Additional extensibility may come from the ability of the framework to readily accommodate the situation where the complete configuration of the Web service is described in multiple XML files. The resulting editor may present one unified display of all of the information across multiple files.

  • Publication number: 20050088964
Abstract: An Ethernet passive optical network (EPON) ring for providing protection against fiber failures. The optical network unit (ONU) is coupled to the ring fiber by a three-port passive optical splitting module that has three two-way optical passages. By the three two-way optical passages, the OUN receives/transmits data from/to the two ends of the optical line termination (OLT) to provide protection while the fiber failure. Moreover, it provides better authorization of users and simpler collision detection by the two-way transmission of the three-port passive optical splitting module to prevent hackers from invading and to reduce collisions.

  • Patent number: 4974107
Abstract: A high performance linear actuator for a memory storage device includes a carriage having bearings at opposed sides thereof for engaging a pair of rail members. One of the pair of rail members is preloaded against the respective carriage bearings to provide structural stiffness and increased resonant frequency to the carriage assembly. Another set of bearings straddle a third rail member extending medially between the pair of rail members. An electromagnetic coil motor is secured to the carriage and disposed to engage an E-frame driving magnet, with the force vector of the coil extending parallel to the rail members and proximate to the center of gravity of the carriage assembly. A plurality of read/write heads is secured laterally adjacent to the electromagnetic assembly and extend toward the magnetic storage medium. The E-frame is closed at both ends to prevent flux leakage. An electronic latch under program control engages and immobilizes the carriage whenever the system is not operating.
