  • Publication number: 20180256444
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein mitigate motion sickness by disrupting, controlling, or influencing anatomy of the vestibular system. An embodiment may induce vibrations in the vestibular system, including otoliths and/or semicircular canals of the inner ear, causing noisy or unreliable sensory information to be sent to the brain from the vestibular system. Due to the noisy or unreliable quality, the brain, as part of a normal physiological response, may rely less on sensory information from the vestibular system and rely more on other sources, thereby mitigating the motion sickness response, vertigo, vestibular migraines, and other physiological responses to inconsistent sensory information. Vibrations in the vestibular system may be induced by an agitator placed on an individual's head near the vestibular system, or by a transducer placed near the eardrum or directly on an individual's head. Some embodiments may optionally include implantable components in addition to extracorporeal components.

  • Patent number: 9976855
Abstract: A top mounted column placement element includes a plumb bob hanging element to allow a plumb bob to hang from the top mounted column placement element and identify a corresponding portion of a bottom mounted column placement element. The top mounted column placement element defines a column perimeter. The bottom mounted column placement element also defines a column perimeter. Once the top mounted column placement portion and bottom mounted column placement element are in place, the column can be placed and set to conform to both defined column perimeters, ensuring the column is properly positioned.

  • Publication number: 20170361516
Abstract: Disclosed apparatus and method to extrude a honeycomb, providing correction in bowing of the extruded honeycomb structure, employs a deflector device having a base plate including an opening aligned in a direction parallel to the extrusion axis through which the plastic material is conveyed to the die. The deflector device includes a bow plate movably mounted to the downstream or upstream side of the base plate. The bow plate includes a constant area aperture. The deflector device positioned upstream of extrusion die imparts a degree of bow reduction by the position of the constant area aperture over the opening imparting a pressure drop gradient on the flow stream entering the die.

  • Patent number: 9841451
Abstract: A system for detecting faults in an electric vehicle charging system includes an electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) coupled to an electric vehicle via a cable. The EVSE includes a first charging circuit interrupting device (CCID) configured to detect faults at let-go levels between an ungrounded conductor in the cable and an external (or unintended) ground. The first CCID is also configured to detect faults above leakage current levels between a chassis of the vehicle and a power storage device of the vehicle. A second CCID is included in the cable or the vehicle to detect faults at let-go levels between an ungrounded conductor in the cable and the chassis. The system maintains grounding continuity between the electric vehicle and ground. The system thus provides protection at let-go levels while allowing a leakage current in the vehicle to be detected at a higher level for nuisance trip avoidance.

  • Patent number: 9742161
Abstract: A touch safe system is provided for an electrical panel, such as a panel board or residential load center. The system includes a phase barrier to isolate branch connectors along a center portion of the electrical panel, a top central cover that snaps onto the phase barrier and two side bus covers. The side bus covers are arranged along opposite sides of the phase barrier over opposite side portions of the electrical panel. The system further includes snap-in filler plates to cover any exposed portion of a branch connector which is unoccupied by a circuit breaker. Each of the snap-in filler plates is secured between the top center bus cover and one of the side bus covers. A snap-in lug cover can also be provided for each circuit breaker on the panel, and secured between one of the side bus covers and a recessed portion of the circuit breaker.

  • Patent number: 9682276
Abstract: A lateral deltoid exercise machine has a floor engaging main frame, a user support pivot, a user support assembly pivotally mounted on the main frame via the user support pivot, and a pivotally mounted user engagement device or exercise arm assembly having arm pads for engagement by the user's forearms while pushing the arm pads outward and upward from a start position. A connecting link translates movement of the user engagement device to movement of the user support so that pivotal movement of the user engagement device results in a self-aligning, pivoting movement of the user support.

  • Publication number: 20170120097
Abstract: A resistance component configured for imparting a resistive force to a connected exercise component is provided. The device includes a frame pivotally supporting a selection arm which has a weight operatively connected to the selection arm by a pin arm. The weight imparts a force resisting rotation of the selection arm by a flexible member engaged with the exercise component. Adjusting the engagement of one end of the pin arm to an arched engagement path along the selection arm adjusts mechanical advantage and the resistive force.

  • Patent number: 9612412
Abstract: A beam combining device comprising at least one beam splitter and phase adjustment circuitry. The at least one beam splitter comprises a semi-reflective surface, first and second inputs, and first and second outputs operatively connected to receive first and second light beams. The semi-reflective surface has first and second sides positioned such that light entering from one input is partially reflected through one output and partially transmitted through another output. The phase adjustment circuitry adjusts the relative phases of the first and second light beams so that light transmitted through the semi reflective surface from one input may be adjusted to have a phase which can cancels or constructively adds to light reflected from another input. Light having a combined power of the light beams, or a fraction thereof, may be selectively emitted through a selective output depending upon the adjustment of phases. Also, a method of operation is claimed.
