  • Publication number: 20160100091
Abstract: A remote controllable monitoring system includes a movable sensor to monitor characteristic(s) of electrical components of equipment housed at different locations inside of an electrical enclosure. The movable sensor is movably mounted inside of the electrical enclosure. The monitoring system can also control the power supplied to the electrical components (e.g., turn power ON or OFF). A remote device interacts with the monitoring system to provide a user with remote control over the functions of the monitoring system. The remote device can include an interactive user interface with a virtual map of the electrical components. Accordingly, the user can monitor electrical components and turn OFF power to the electrical components if a problem or perspective problem is detected, via the interactive user interface of the remote device without opening or being near the electrical enclosure.

  • Publication number: 20160089298
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention can mitigate motion sickness by disrupting, controlling, or influencing anatomy of the vestibular system, including, for example, otoliths, endolymph, and hair follicles. An embodiment of the invention may induce vibrations in the vestibular system, including otoliths and/or semicircular canals of the inner ear, thereby causing noisy or unreliable sensory information in signals sent to the brain from the vestibular system. Due to this noisy or unreliable sensory information, the brain, as part of a normal physiological response, may rely less on signals received from vestibular system and rely more heavily on other sources, thereby mitigating the motion sickness response, vertigo, vestibular migraines, and other physiological responses to inconsistent sensory information. Vibrations in the vestibular system may be induced by an agitator placed on an individual's head near the vestibular system.

  • Publication number: 20160033565
Abstract: A system for detecting faults in an electric vehicle charging system includes an electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) coupled to an electric vehicle via a cable. The EVSE includes a first charging circuit interrupting device (CCID) configured to detect faults at let-go levels between an ungrounded conductor in the cable and an external (or unintended) ground. The first CCID is also configured to detect faults above leakage current levels between a chassis of the vehicle and a power storage device of the vehicle. A second CCID is included in the cable or the vehicle to detect faults at let-go levels between an ungrounded conductor in the cable and the chassis. The system maintains grounding continuity between the electric vehicle and ground. The system thus provides protection at let-go levels while allowing a leakage current in the vehicle to be detected at a higher level for nuisance trip avoidance.

  • Publication number: 20160019606
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for the dynamic placement, management and monitoring of Internet advertising. A provider of Internet content distributes the Internet content by embedding an advertisement placeholder in the Internet content; and provides the Internet content to an aggregator web site. The aggregator web site presents the Internet content to at least one end user with at least one advertisement in the advertisement placeholder. The advertisement placeholder is processed by a third party agent to automatically share revenue from the at least one advertisement with the provider of the Internet content and a provider of the aggregator web site. The advertisement placeholder can optionally be embedded in the Internet content using one or more templates. The third party agent also evaluates the content and at least one policy of multiple parties to identify at least one advertisement to present in the advertisement placeholder.

  • Publication number: 20150238801
Abstract: A device for imparting a resistive force to a connected exercise component is provided. The device includes a frame pivotally supporting a selection arm which has a weight connected to the selection arm by a pin arm. The weight imparts a force resisting rotation of the selection arm by a flexible member engaged with the exercise component. Adjusting the engagement of one end of the pin arm to an arched engagement path along the selection arm adjusts mechanical advantage and the resistive force.

  • Patent number: 8991719
Abstract: A thermal by-pass valve for a heat exchange circuit includes a housing forming a chamber and a by-pass valve port surrounded by a valve seat. The valve port is located between first and second sections of the chamber. First and second oil ports open into the first section. At least a third port opens into the second section. A thermally sensitive actuator is mounted in the first section and has a body and a piston located at one end. The body is movable in the chamber in response to extension of the piston. A valve member is operably mounted on the body and is movable by extension of the piston. A spacer projects from and is connected to the body and forms a passage through which the piston extends. The spacer acts to maintain the adjacent end of the actuator body at least the length of the passage away from an end of the chamber. The spacer can have a valve portion to close a further valve port.

  • Publication number: 20130159351
Abstract: Techniques for mapping between data models where objects represented in the data models include common physical objects or assets are provided. In one aspect, a method for mapping between data models, each of which describes a location of objects in a physical area includes the following steps. Common attributes are found in each of the data models. Location attributes are found among the common attributes in each of the data models, i.e., those attributes that describe the location of the objects in the physical area. The location attributes are used to identify a given one of the objects common to each of the data models, based on a placement of the given object by the data models at a same location (at a same time) in the physical area to establish a common identity of the object within the models. Attributes other than location attributes may then be mapped.

  • Patent number: 8466706
Abstract: A combiner that calculates energy produced by each panel feed during the daytime, and calculates a resistance value needed to calculate the energy by injecting a known current into each panel feed at nighttime and measuring the resulting voltage across a resistive element in each panel feed. A voltage tap across the protection device in each panel feed allows logic and control circuitry to measure the voltage across each protection device. At nighttime, a known current is injected into each panel feed and the voltage across each protection device is measured. Plugging the current and voltage into Ohm's Law, a resistance of each protection device is calculated, then that resistance value is used during the daytime to calculate energy produced by each string in real time and to monitor each string's performance. When an individual string's performance wanes, an alarm is indicated to help the operator troubleshoot which individual panel(s) within the string is responsible for that string's underperformance.

  • Patent number: 8352951
Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention is a method for allocation of finite computational resources amongst multiple entities, wherein the method is structured to optimize the business value of an enterprise providing computational services. One embodiment of the inventive method involves establishing, for each entity, a service level utility indicative of how much business value is obtained for a given level of computational system performance. The service-level utility for each entity is transformed into a corresponding resource-level utility indicative of how much business value may be obtained for a given set or amount of resources allocated to the entity. The resource-level utilities for each entity are aggregated, and new resource allocations are determined and executed based upon the resource-level utility information. The invention is thereby capable of making rapid allocation decisions, according to time-varying need or value of the resources by each of the entities.
