Patent number: 8704388Abstract: An apparatus includes a flexible support member having a first and second ends and a plurality of guides there between. The apparatus further includes an electrical generator having a magnet, an electrical coil surrounding the magnet, and a pair of electrical leads for delivering electrical current generated in the coil. A tensile member is connected between the first end of the support member and the magnet, wherein the tensile member extends along a path from the first end of the support member through the plurality of guides to the magnet. A spring element biases the magnet in a direction to impart tension to the tensile member. Deflection of the support member from a relaxed position to a deflected position modifies the length of the path of the tensile member to displace the magnet within the electrical coil and generate an electrical current.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 2012Date of Patent: April 22, 2014Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Alfredo Aldereguia, Jeffrey R. Patent number: 8365260Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method, system and computer program product for multi-variable challenge-response. In an embodiment of the invention, a method for multi-variable challenge-response can include receiving a request to access content from an end user computing device from over a computer communications network. The method also can include selecting different objects for inclusion in an object set and applying a different characteristic to each of the different objects in the object set. A question and answer can be generated based upon each of the different characteristics. Further, a challenge-response prompt can be transmitted to the end user computing device such that the prompt includes the different objects with different characteristics applied, and also the generated question. A response to the challenge-response prompt can be received and compared the response to the computed answer.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2009Date of Patent: January 29, 2013Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Logan S. Patent number: 7232392Abstract: A method for installing a cushion ring on a sprocket body to construct a sprocket assembly includes applying a deforming force to a cushion ring so that an opening therein is deformed to a shape that accommodate passage of a non-circular flange of a sprocket body therethrough. When the cushion ring is deformed, the non-circular flange of the sprocket body is inserted through the opening of the cushion ring. The deforming force is then released from the cushion ring so that the cushion ring is trapped between the flange and another portion of the sprocket body. The sprocket assembly includes at least one and typically two cushion rings trapped by respective non-circular flanges.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2005Date of Patent: June 19, 2007Assignee: Cloyes Gear and Products, Inc.Inventor: Jeffrey R. Patent number: 6510592Abstract: The clip includes a base hingeably attached to a lid. The lid includes two detent prongs with detent apertures including ledges formed at the distal ends thereof. These ledges engage complementary inverted ledges on detent protrusions on the base. The lid can be released from the base by squeezing the detent prongs toward each other in a direction parallel to the rotational axis between the lid and base thereby releasing the ledges from the inverted ledges. Typically, the base is secured to a first strap which can be further secured to a pouch. A second strap which is typically formed as loops on a backpack or similar structure is then secured between the lid and base in the locked position, thereby allowing a pouch to be securely attached to a backpack.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 2000Date of Patent: January 28, 2003Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventor: Jeffrey R.
